It's not the foods we eat that make us fat - it's the amount of foods we eat and the calories in those foods.

So don't eat too many high calorie, high-fat foods. But do eat a variety of foods- fruits, vegetables, meats, whole grains (oatmeal, whole wheat bread), nuts, etc.

This depends on what your goals are if your are trying to loose weight or just maintain your current weight. Basically if your trying to loose weight the best thing to do is to take an assessment of what you you eat in a typical 7 day week. from that check and see how many calories you are intaking. As a guide line remember that 3500 calories is equal to a pound of fat. So if you you were to cut out 3500 calories from your weakly diet then you would be able to loose a pound a week. Of course once figure your caloric intake for the week then you need to figure how many calories you burn a week by exercise and how much your resting metabolic rate is also So that you can accurately calculate your weekly caloric intake. I know it sounds like a lot of work but doing proper research on this will help, and once you know what to do then it gets easier. Oh and just help with all that go to spark people.com it is a good web site and helps with everything I just explained and it's free. Hope this helps and good luck on your quest.

More white meat rather than red. White are higher in protein and less fat, and red is vice versa. Fruits? less fry food, take the required amount of vegetables and fruits for healthier diet and the above mentioned. Protein is one essential nutrient that our body needs, but do not try taking excess protein from egg, as many other substance are not very friendly to our body if taken too much of it. Exercise and drink more water too. Take care and good luck.

Its easier to say what not to eat--butter, cheese, margarine, any kind of oil, fried foods, processed carbohydrates like sugar or white bread--whole grain pasta or whole grain bread are good for you.

fiber - b/c it's supposed to fill you faster
protein - b/c it takes longer to digest and keeps you fuller

BUT - small meals throughout the day
AND - more than anything -- count calories and don't go over your max
