It is the Human Scent, it is from the oils on your skin that are natural. Perfume/cologne can help if it is a problem for you. That Scent is the scent search dogs can smell when looking for bodies etc. Some people it is more prominent than others.

Dude, first off, don't smell the back of people ears.
Wash thoroughly when you are in the shower.
Put a little cologne back there too. I don't know why it smells, but you're right, probably just from dust that gathers back there.

use soap and water every time you take a bath or shower and rinse well.

could be soap residue.

you could also try some sort of antibiotic ointment for a few nights -- maybe you have a skin infection or something?

if all else fails, see a doctor.. i don't have crud behind my ears, and never have... so that's why i'm wondering if you have some problem from not rinsing soap completely or not scrubbing well enough?

take care of you!! hugs

guess what, that isn't true of ALL people. Some folks do have vestigial scent glands back there however, tho now that is extremely rare.
