Just like all Americans, veterans have differing opinions about the war. Some support the president's view and some don't. The war supporters are intitled to their opinion, the same as those who oppose it. Some, the ones that you speak of, are just a little more defensive about their war experiences than others. You can't get the whole country to agree with you, so you just have to accept that some people will be extremely offended by your opinion. That is the cost of living in a free society.
By the way, I am a veteran too, and I agree with you about the war. That is at least one on your side, so don't let the others get to you.

I would say, with the limited information in your question, that them getting mad has more to do with the way you are expressing yourself than the fact that you are against the war. I know a number of veterans that are against the war in principal however they are and will always remain loyal to the soldiers that are fighting. They get mad when they hear politicians talking about cutting funding to the war and hard dates for troop withdrawls. Those concepts are only going to hurt the soldiers that the politicians are supposedly trying to help.

Remember the best way to honor the memory of a fallen soldier is not to get the rest of the soldiers out of harms way at any cost. The best way to honor them is to win the fight for which they made the ultimate sacrifice.

Maybe because many veterans are a little sensitive about having "I support the troops but not the war" types using those same troops as cover for promoting their own political agendas.

I'm a Veteran, and I'm not mad.
As long as it's not hate speech, I could care less if you are not for the war. I'm not for the war that's going on right now, but I will go again if needed and support my brothers in arms.

you have the right and are entitled to express you opinion. that is why they fight. but they also have been there and know what they are trying to accomplish and have to listen to the opinions of those who really have no clue but parrot opinions of their talking heads.

you tell us that you are a veteran, but have you been there in Iraq. that would make a big difference as to your credibility.

my son is in the US Army and knows first hand what the situation is in Iraq and that the media never reports the positives, only the negatives.

Knee-jerk reaction man, plain and simple. Some people believe if you are anti-war you're anti-American. Not true. The more important question is why you're against the war. If you can give good reasons for being against the war (and there are many) then you're expressing an opinion. However, if you're simply tossing out a bunch of anti-war propaganda (most of which is NOT true) or you're resorting to the old tired notion that we're fighting a war for oil, you can't expect anyone who supports the war to take you seriously.

Its the way you phrase your questions. I've looked at your question history and you tend to say negative things about the troops.
You claim to be a veteran, so how can you sit there and bash your fellow vets?

They are brain washed on all that crap the armed forces sells them. It is very hypocritical of them to say they fought for our freedom but then not want anything said they do not agree with. Plus it is allot of the younger kids that talk all the radical stuff. Most of the older guys and girls have a more balanced view on it if you talk to them.
