The problem with BMI is that it only takes into account height and weight, not body composition (ie. body fat vs. lean mass). I never calculate my clients' BMI for that reason. It isn't important.
Professional athletes, with very little bodyfat and a large amount of muscle mass, can register as obese when looking at BMI. Obviously that is flawed.
What is important is what your bodyfat percentage is. Two people who both weigh 200 lbs will look dramatically different if one has a bodyfat % of 35% and the other has a bodyfat % of 10%.
BMI is basically a lazy person's way of classifying people.

Well I think as a general rule they say a BMI of 25 and over is classed as overweight, however BMI doesn't take into account muscle mass etc so for all I know you could just be really muscular. If you feel that you would be better off losing weight then maybe you should take the appropriate steps but if you're happy as you are then that's great as long as you're healthy.

Ask the laboratory where u got the result from.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

your bmi is nearing obesity which is 30, suggest that while you are not obese yet, you are overweight, and the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight. You may want to consider dropping some weight, but really it depends on your fat to muscle ratio, you could be really toned and muscular which would skew your results dramatically when it comes to bmi. You might look for a place near you that measures body fat by water displacement. Fat displaces more water than muscle, and this is a more accurate look at whether or not you need to lose weight. Or your doctor can use a fat caliper and determine whether or not you need to lose.

Your doing very well . I don't think your over weight I bet you look sexy as hell. If your not where you like to be get into A work out regiment and cut out bread pasta and starchy foods. Eat more fruit and veggies

If you listen to the doctors, they'll tell you to lose weight. BUT if you're comfortable with yourself and aren't having any health conditions directly connected with your weight, go on living a happy life.

at last someone who knows what they talking about dave s! b.m.i is really not important and should be ignored completely!! better to concentrate on your body fat percentage instead. im 33 with a body fat percentage of 7% and a b.m.i of 26. work that out!!! total rubbish

It is considered overweight, but BMI can be misleading if someone is muscular.

Well it would be considered overweight. I'm sure you knew that. However, if you are happy with yourself and you are healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
