I have pretty bad OCD, i don't have money to see a thearpist. I'm looking for some self-help things.. I have obsessively think about things that I know will upset or worry me knowing that they will.. I'm suffering from chronic abdominal pain which I know is from constant worry and fear all due to my own thoughts. I also have pretty severe dermatillomania. I pick my scalp until it bleeds.. then pick the scabs. My boyfriend tries to help me. He'll smack my hand away but I am unknowingly back at it 2 minutes later. I bite my nails terrible, but more the skin around it and pick any scabs I can find. It's terrible & disgusting.

If anybody has similar experiences and want to talk.. let me know. Or if you have any advice.. please give it. I just want to get over with this, it's been plaguing me my whole life.

Hi.. sorry you are having these problems.

If you go to Yahoo.com and do searches on OCD and dermatillomania, you will find plent of websites for information and probably suggestions for help.

Another thing you could do, is see if there is a county mental health organization in your area, or a mental health clinic who takes fees on a sliding scale (and who appllies for grants for those without the money to pay for services).

Believe me when i say, there are many grants and funds available. You will have to do research by calling the clinics in your area, and ask for the financial aid person. I hope you can get some good help, hon....

take care.

Just so you know you aren't alone, I've done the scab thing my whole life. Not just the picking, but the creating of a wound to pick. Usually in my ear at the very top where it can be hidden. My ex used to constantly swat my hand away and tell me to stop. I will also peel the skin off my feet till it bleeds and then it'll hurt to walk for a couple of days. I've actually gotten better with it in the past year, but I find in times of stress or distress, I do it more. I just scratched at my leg furiously the other night due to a bug bite. I went at it so hard that people asked me what the hell happened to my leg when the scab formed. It was pretty bad. That's all I have to offer. You aren't alone. No psychological help here.
