Does anyone out there have a working knowledge of the difference between Jehovah Witness' doctrine and the Bible? I mean the regular Bible, and not their own version? What is your opinion?

Stanley F....... oh yes, the JW's do have their own Bible, and they have cleverly changed many things to fit their doctrines.

To the others who defend JW doctrine: are you able to honestly study the KJV without your study booklets and helps? And without help from your leaders?

Dear friends, contrary to what some believe, I have spent much time studying JW doctrine. To: betty boop. sisterzeal, beachy, Engage Me. twikfat, red glory, Matt....thank you for your scholarly research. I totally agree with you. JW's do not follow traditional Christianity. They follow a man named Russell. They date their theology back to the 1800's, whereas traditional Christianity dates back thru the Jews to the beginning of time. It is my hope that JW's will research with an open heart. They are not being attacked here, they are being challenged to look into these matters with an open heart !!

Jehovah's Witnesses base their worship strictly on the bible. The questioner might be interested in these independent reference works:
New Catholic Encyclopedia: “They [Jehovah's Witnesses] regard the Bible as their only source of belief and rule of conduct.”
Encyclopedia of Religion: “all that they [Jehovah's Witnesses] believe is based on the Bible. They ‘proof text’ (that is, supply a biblical citation to support) almost every statement of faith, taking for granted the authority of the Bible, which entirely supplants tradition.”

By the way why if the trinity is true in heaven the sealed only have two names not three in their foreheads? why? but this is not the main Topic of the bible.
THIS IS: that by the way I had asked to Lysdexic (Yes the lady over me) several times and she avoid this topic, cause she can´t prove it is false, notice sho doesn´t preach the message Jesus command his followers to preach..
What is going to happen with this planet and all the animalls during the 1000 years kingdom the period that the bible says that Jesus will rule the earth? Yes after Armaggedon, don´t You now? Why if you give a KJV bible to a Jehovah´s witness they can show what is the future of this planet and human society and you (Plural) don´t know how to answer?
You are recollenting clothes but you don´t know the main topic of the whole bible, the message that Jesus command to his follower to preach,? why you are not preaching that messages? instead of losing time, Jesus your "master" command you to preach his kingdom (Matthew 24:14 not to insult other people, that is the main topic we preached the only "investiguation" you did is about trinity reading 10 verse of the bible, we in the other hand are preaching this:
What will Jesus do during his 1000 year kingdom? Jehovah ´s witness preach that Jesus after Armageddon and destruction of evildoers, Satan and his demons will be "Jailed" for 1000 years in the mean time Jesus will rule the earth with a group redeemed from earth (Revelation 5:10, 14:1-5) will resurrect people (Acts 24:15 and John 5:28-29) will provide food and eliminate famines (Psalm 72:16) will restore the health of humans (Isaiah 35:5-6, 33:24) will eliminate the death and the cause of the death and suffering (Revelation 21:4) in resumen will transform the earth in a great place to live a "new earth" the original purpose of God with Adam and Eve before they sinned (Genesis 1:28) .
After 1000 years , Satan will be release and mankind will have a second test and after that Satan will be cast into the lake of fire (destroyed) and Jesus give the kingdom to his father (Jehovah) (1 Corithians 15:28)
this is our believe we spent 1 billion hours only last year preaching that messageof hope to his world in 236 countries, READ IT , PRINT IT , AND INVESTIGUATE IT go on ask to your pastor and you will see that he doesn´t have any kind of way to prove that this is false, why? cause this is the purpose of JESUS´S DEATH , FRIDAY NISAN 14 YEAR 33 C:E, 3:PM AFTERTOON JESUS DIED CAUSE THE EARTH (Planet and his habitant) need it to become a planet full of humans sinless and the earth as the original paradise that God prepared, go on investiguate this and tell that this is lie if you wish, all people who is against this message is denying Jesus´s blood.
P.S Nisan 14 the date of Jesus ´´s death ,the first time in your life you see that date something that is in the bible and every single Jehovah ´s witness know as 2+2=4, ask your pastor if he knows which date Jesus died? and sure that he even have the minor idea, now go to a kingdom hall and ask to and elder and he will show you where is that date in the bible or ask any JWS and get surprise , and verified my information,
what any other things are in the bible that JWS know that you don´t?
(To the others who defend JW doctrine: are you able to honestly study the KJV without your study booklets and helps? And without help from your leaders?)
WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO IT WITH ME USING THE KJV?
I am more than crazy to do it, I am dying to do it....
Excuse me again by the way, why in Revelation 14:1 Jesus says the 144K has only two names in their foreheads and not three names? ask you why?

I'm not a baptised Witness. I do study w/ them.
I have applied what I've learned from the Bible in my life.
I have investigated.
And btw.......
You don't care to get a fair & decent answer.
You proved that when u attack others that aren't even Witnesses.
I saw ur profile; u r just Mean,Ugly and full of Hate & Lies.
Like others here, You don't even know what ur talkin' about.
If you did you wouldn't say the things that u say.
Go to a library, read a book!
On Jeopardy:
the answer was: "NWT of the Holy Scriptures"
the q: "which translation of the Bible is the most accurate"
YOU asked......
My opinion;
Jehovah God is Gonna Get You!
Jesus will tell you to get away from him, you worker of lawlessness.

Having been a Witness for the majority of my life, (wasn't raised as one)
I think I qualify for a 'working knowlege' of JW's and the regular Bible.
Did you have a specfic scripture in mind?
Did you know the original Greek did not have capital / small letters?
John 1:1, 2 was written:
in the beginning was the word the word was with the god and god was the word this was in the beginning toward the god
In English we capitalize titles if used in place of names.
Word is capitalized because it includes "the" making it a title.
God(1) & (3) are capitalized for the same reason.
god(2) doesn't contain the definite article "the" therefore in Greek it is a quality and not a title. (See footnote the NAB)
That is why some regular bibles read
"and the Word was divine"
When we say 'God is divine', we aren't saying God is God,
we are saying that God has godly qualities.
When we say "Jesus is divine" we are saying Jesus has godly qualities.
Heb 1:3; Eph 1:17; Col 1:15; 2 Cor 4:4
2 Cor 4:4 states that if we believe Jesus is more than an image of God (Heb 1:3) then we are being blinded by Satan.
edit ----
Your last comment reminded me of a gentlemen who said he would be happy to discuss the bible as long as we used only the bible and no WT books.
When I arrived at the appointed time, he invited me in and we sat down at his dining room table.
In front of him was his notes from his church's bible study and his bible dictionary.
It seems only his books were acceptable.
Why should I believe you over the WT?
Why should I believe your interpetation?
What qualifications do you have?
Prove your point without any other 'scholar'.
Prove your point without using 'your' bible.
"Approved" Bible by whom? Other men?
This attitude of MY SCHOLARS are better than YOUR SCHOLARS is really very childish.
Why did the recently published “New International Version” (NIV) of the Bible fail to use the name of God where it appears about 7,000 times in ancient Bible manuscripts? In response to a person who inquired about this, Edwin H. Palmer, Th.D., Executive Secretary for the NIV’s committee wrote:
“Here is why we did not: You are right that Jehovah is a distinctive name for God and ideally we should have used it. But we put 2 1/4 million dollars into this translation and a sure way of throwing that down the drain is to translate, for example, Psalm 23 as, ‘Yahweh is my shepherd.’ Immediately, we would have translated for nothing. Nobody would have used it. Oh, maybe you and a handful [of] others. But a Christian has to be also wise and practical. We are the victims of 350 years of the King James tradition. It is far better to get two million to read it—that is how many have bought it to date—and to follow the King James, than to have two thousand buy it and have the correct translation of Yahweh. . . . It was a hard decision, and many of our translators agree with you.”
Did you notice that these scholars agreed with the WT and yet didn't translate their bible correctly?

Fear more than anything else. They are under severe, constant warnings from the Watchtower publications, meetings, to avoid opposers at all costs. If this was not true, why do they disfellowship those who leave the religion. This shunning is performed against those not guilty of immorality, but simply for not believing that the religion teaches the truth. They cannot explain this practice away. It just verifies what all the 1,000's of websites point out. Jehovah's do not tolerate any member who does not agree with the religious leaders. Period end of discussion.

Jehovah's Witnesses can use any Bible. The NWT is an accurate translation. Its most important characteristic is that it restores God's name (Jehovah) which in most bibles has been replaced by the term "LORD".
JWs compared to other "Christian" denominations have different teachings. They respect what the Bible says and they follow Jesus. They reject everything that has to do with paganism. They are loving and caring persons. They are the only ones who respect Jesus' command to preach the good news(Matthew 28:19). Also, they are different because they are not part of this world just like Jesus wasn't (John 17:16; 15:18,19).

The differences are:
The NWT of the Holy Scriptures
put God's name back in, where it was removed.
It was translated from the original scrolls etc...
It was written in plain, simple, understandable English,
not the Kings English.
My opinion is that YOU should do some research, I did.
And for the guy's that said, His name is not in the Bible
GO LOOK!! in your Bible @ Psalms 83:18; Exodus 6:3.
Jesus is called the faithful witness.....GO! & LOOK!

Questions about "our" Bible have been asked and answered over and over here. The fact of the matter is we are comfortable using any Bible. Many of us learned the truth using the King James.(Before there was a NWT) The fact is the library in the Kingdom Hall contains many different Bibles for us to use and study from. The fact is over 100 million copies of the NWT are in print now, and since there are just over 6 million witnesses, I'd say someone's got the message that this is a wonderful translation.
The NWT is one of the best translations available today, and it's not only we who say so. A recent book by Jason BeDuhn states: “While it is difficult to quantify this sort of analysis, it can be said the NW[T] emerges as the most accurate of the translations compared.” [^ BeDuhn, Jason D. Truth in Translation: Accuracy and Bias in English Translations of the New Testament, 2004]
As Harper's Bible Dictionary (1985 ed. R.G.Bratcher, The English Bible. pp.266, 267) and The Lion Handbook to the Bible (Lion Publishing, 1976 reprint, p. 79) admits. You would do well to have a copy of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures in your library.
Jehovah's Witnesses follow the Bible as the unerring word of God, and as such we DO NOT deviate from the teachings of the Scripture. So there is no 'doctrine' that differs. The man-made doctrines of Christendom, well, that's another story.
Now, I'm pretty sure you aren't interested in the actual FACTS, but only wish to see answers from people such as yourself who spread lies about Jehovah's Witnesses. So, enjoy your little 'put down' party.

I'm all for this. Let's bring it on. You say they changed their Bible to fit what they want it to be. Well, where's the proof of that. I'm not a JW, I am a searcher for truth and now I want the truth. You have to back up what you say as proof that their Bible is not Holy. What Book, Chapters, Scriptures were changed to fit their own benefits and not God's? Bring it on.............let's see.
UPDATE: Dear Debbie, you got it right girl! 100%. I am in the book of Mark but was browsing around in the book of John and I just read that this morning. Awesome and you said it here. Listen you all, this is a very important point Jesus is making here: John ch.8 v.42-47: Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now I am here. I have not come on my own; but He sent me. 43) Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44) You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45) Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46) Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47) He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.
What a STRONG STATEMENT! Awesome! This should be one of the most important scriptures we must meditate on. Here lies the REVELATION of the "TRUE CHURCH". Christ, Truth, Love, this is the proof.
The asker, can you prove them guilty of sin on not telling the truth?
Also the truth here of "NO TRINITY". This is awesome. God bless you Debbie.
