In relation to the new Census information? Canada is getting old, and it isn't' news as of yesterday. Toronto is not alone. It is the demographics of the baby boomers. A generation went to war in WW2 with a large loss of life, and spending 5 years away from home. When they came home they married and had more babies than ever before. That happened for about 20 years until the birth control pill was invented. Then the number of kids people have has slowly declined ever since. Several other things make fewer kids the norm. More women work instead of being homemakers, the world is overpopulated anyway, improvements to birth control.

So, you have one generation that outnumber the people that lived before them, and the people that live after them. It is a big statistical blip that is pushing it's way within the demographic. Add to it, that the longest life expectancy ever, and better health care. Although there are other areas of the world with lots of youth, we keep the numbers we let in highly regulated.
