That is something you would have to decide for yourself. What might look good blonde on me might look like Sh*t on you same goes for the red. I had a reddish color hair before and it looked like sh*t on me so I now have platinum blonde on top and a light brown underneath it looks great. But like I said not everyone looks good with certain colors.

Red will be easier to attain, as it is one of the steps between black and blonde. If you want to go blonde, you can always dye it red if you don't like it. to get blond hair you can use born blonde by clairol. see below.
