Broccoli tastes better when its used in salads , soups or noodles rather than subji. Overcooking broccoli (like in Subji) spoils its tate. Always steam or par boil them. This is healthier. Since u have asked for a tasty broccoli treat, I'll suggest a hawaian salad which includes broccoli.
Onions, cut them long, mix it with 2tsp of vinegar and keep it aside.
Carrot, Soft beans, Lettuce, Boiled potatoes, Tomatoes or cherry tomatoes, Parsley(chopped), Boiled egg, Cooked chicken shredds. All the veges can be sliced according to ur like.
Hawaian salads are slightly sweet. Normally for sweetness they use pineapple. Use can use pineapple, raisins or any fruit which is sweet (not sour).
Along with all the veges add steamed broccoli (retaining its crunchiness), steamed baby corn and mix allwell.
Now addThousand Island salad dressing.Add salt.
Squeeze out water from onions and add to the veges. Mix everything well. Keep it in the fridge for haalf an hour before serving. Have this with garlic bread. U can also use white sauce with this salad.

I've seen broccoli subji with mushrooms...only once and I am not familiar with this dish at all so I don't kow if this is how it is usually done. I love broccoli...these are some of the ways I have it as a side dish.
*With cheese sauce, especially baked with more cheese and breadcrumbs on top.
*With holendaise sauce.
*Steamed with a little lemon juice, olive oil and freshly cracked black pepper on top.
* I really like it steamed in the microwave (cut a little cross at the bottom of each floret) with red capscicum and zucchini too.

In a pan, make your seasoning (oil, mustard, little crushed green chilly, ginger, garlic). Add broccoli flowerets & some cut carrots and stir. Add little chilli powder and keep it covered on medium flame for just 2 mnts. Uncover it and then stir on high flame. The main thing is that it should be crisp, not steamy. It tasts good.
