Not what you want to hear, but the best opportunties that you can trust are those you go out and find for yourself in your local region. Seek out smaller companies and offer your services, especially if you have good track record and strong recommendations and ask about working from home. Some companies like it because they don't have to pay the overhead of office space and you might be able to claim a portion of your home as a tax deduction.

When I was younger I applied for a petroleum trading company that was totally home based and even offered to set up would be employees with computers but I preferred interaction with co-workers. More recently, our local ice cream shop with a major franchise was looking for a part-time help with accounting and was fine if the person worked from home.

In my experience, smaller communities have been more open to suggestion than larger ones.
