One of my kids brought home headlice from school a month ago. I cut my son's hair off. My daughter has chin-length hair. I first tried using the Rid products on both kids. I then combed the nits out of both kids hair. It didn't get rid of the problem for my daughter so the doctor gave us a permethrin cream to rub in our scalp and hair and put a showercap on and leave for 8 hours. My husband and son are fine but my daughter and I are still miserable from it! I'm 30 years old with head lice..sighs. My husband keeps checking my hair but says he doesn't see anything, I tell him to not worry about hurting my feelings, just please help me get rid of it, he swears he doesnt see anything. I just myself found 2 adult lice in my hair this morning. I don't know what else to do. I've done all the steps, used olive oil treatments, rid, combed, washed all linens and brushes. I'm about to shave my head and divorce my husband. Please Please help me.

First things first. You must take her to the nearest church. Her hair is infested not by head lice, but by an evil spirit who manifests its presence in this form (the lice are in fact made of ectoplasm).

Tell the priest (at a preferablely catholic church) that you have a 'code100'. He will know what you mean.

Headlice can be so difficult to get rid of - working in a school building, I have watched families struggle with it for years. It can take 1-2 weeks for a new "hatch" to appear, so if you don't get rid of all of the nits, you will see them again. The key is to treat absolutely everything in the home, not just people. You need to treat linens, pillows, stuffed animals, etc. Stuffed animals, cushions and pillows, bean bag-type chairs... all items of this type should be placed in plastic bags and sealed for two weeks. This will suffocate any existing lice or nits. All clothing, bedding, towels - anything washable - should be washed in the hottest water possible for the fabric, then dryed in the dryer. Vacuum the entire house thoroughly - all carpets, rugs, even bare floors. Vacuum all furniture thoroughly - removable cushions should be removed and vacuumed, and the area under the removable cushions should also be vacuumed. Continue to treat hair past the time you are no longer seeing adult lice or nits, and treat the entire family, even those you believe to be rid of the nits. If you are still experiencing a recurrence of head lice after treatment and cleaning, you may want to explore other possible sources. It is possible your family is being reinfected by someone else - a friend, someone at school or daycare, etc. I've included a few links you may find helpful. Best of luck!

It sounds as though you have a super strength nit! Are you sure you are both not just getting re-infested. Treat your hair with whatever you've got then get your husband to separate and comb every bit of your hair. Make sure he wipes the comb on a tissue after each stroke. The nit even when dead tends to cling on forever so it could take a while for them to be completely gone. An old fashioned tip is to smother your hair in white conditioner leave and then comb. Have an extra good look where it could be coming from- pets, outside, lounge? And tie your hair up or where a clean cap every day while treating to make sure it's not re-infestation. It usually takes a few treatments before they're all gone.

Ok, start the process all over again. Wash everything in hot water and use the lice products for your laundry. Get rid of the hair brushes and buy new ones. Whatever cannot be washed spray. There are lice sprays that you can purchase. Check your daughters bed, does she have a lot of stuffed animals, if so place them in large garbage bags and tie shut to prevent any air inside of them, let them sit outside in the heat of the day for several days. Do this with your bed pillows too. This will kill them. I am sorry to mention this but check your pubic hair. Repeat most of this process for several days as well as the shampooing of the hair with the nix or rid. I am so sorry that this has happened, good luck and I hope for the best. Also one last thing, vacuum daily too and everything. Mattresses, seat cushions, furniture.

You can get a battery operated lice comb at your drug store called a "Robicomb". It zaps the live lice while you run it through your hair. I had the same problem several years ago, my husband couldn't see the nits or did not have the patience to pick them out for me. Ask a close female friend of yours to help you with the nits. Use the robicomb twice a day everyday for 2 weeks and you will kill the lice as they hatch. It is very hard to get all of the nits in just one sitting. It is also better to look for nits outside in natural light, easier to see them.

Good luck, don't let it get you down, it just takes a lot of patience.

I feel for you. Getting rid of lice sucks. I know that you said you were following all the steps, but are you vacuuming every day and emptying out the bag? If you haven't been changing the bag every day that might help. And make sure you are combing the hair every day with a lice comb to get rid of all the eggs. I would also find a reliable trusted friend and have her check my head instead of my husband. In my experience, men just don't know what they are looking for and he is probably not checking it as thoroughly as he needs to. I'm lucky because my sister is a school teacher and she has lots of experience in checking for head lice.

Be carefull with the remedies: they're strong and danger, not for use so many times.
A bit of vinegar (to lose the strong glue of the eggs) and a lice comb (a must have) will do for the heads. As primates we even found it fun. :-)
The problem is not the head - that's fairly easy. The problem is that you must get rid of the lice's eggs. You should deep clean the house, specialy the bed (clothes and mattress). And I mean deep.
It's pratically impossible that you have lice and your husband don't. Try to figure it out why this happens, maybe you found a solution (I don't know: something he does that the lice don't like)
Are you shure that you're not getting them from another source?

Google for lice for details. Study your enemy!

You must do the entire house and your car, jackets and sweaters also. As the others who answered this have said what you cannot put in the dryer on high heat spray with lice spray. One other thing you can try is to use a blow dryer on your hair.
I think if you are doing all these things and still have the problem you have some friend or family member who is reinfecting you!!!That is what happened to my friend and when she stopped the daughters friend from visiting no more lice!!!

Wash your hair 2x day. Make sure you leave the shampoo for a while.
You can get different types of head lice removers, look in many stores.
just continuosly treat your hair.
Have also a nit comb which helps take out the eggs.
If you have long hair, cut your hair - but obv not too short.

Also clean hoover house too, cuz lice can fall from hair

Brook- that s the most rediculous thing that your black what does that mean you cant get head lice? I knew 3 black girls that had lice in school. But anyways they have special medication that you need to buy and you leave it in for whatever amount of time it says. Also heres when it gets tricky you need to boom out where ever they sleep. Lice takes a while to kill and the best advice is to go to the doctor and have them perscribe you strong medication if the stores didnt work. And you dont need to shave your head. Just rewash everything as much as possible. The pillows you need to throw out. any animals may carry it as well.
