Carmax offered 12,000 for my 2005 hyundai tiburon GT, is there any way to get them to increase their offer? Do they ever do any negotiating?

You so not say how many miles you have on the car, but that price is in line with wholesale value for they year and model.

Carmax will pay you wholesale value for your car. Any dealer who is interested in buying your car is going to pay about the same amount. Carmax works on volume. They will buy any car, and if it is not something that they want for their retail business, they sell it to another dealer. If they do not get yours for the price they say, they will buy something else. They really do not car if they purchase your car or not.

You can get more for your car if you sell it retail yourself, but you have to go through the hassles of advertising, and dealing with prospective buyers! It is your choice if it is worth it to you!!

Car Max? Sell the Tiburon your self. I know it is a hassle but that way you control the transaction. Pay off the remaining loan and give the title to the new owner or there bank. What they offered is not way out of line it sounds like to me? they will throw it out on the lot with a $4,995 mark up 2005 Hyundai GT (16,995)

I highly doubt they will give you much more if any more for it. Expect to see the same results anywhere else you go.

I did a little trade in research and that number is right on par with what the books say the value should be. Of course that number can change with mileage, condition, options, etc.

Remeber they are a business and need to make money like any other business. They will end up selling the car for a very small profit. Probably around $2k - $3k profit.

Completely wash and wax your car. Vacuum out the inside and put armorall on everything to make it really shine. I did this on a taureg and the dealer increased the trade in value.

Did you talk with somebody? Make a counter-supply... Robert P.S. till now you're making this counter-supply, have some info and figures to back your thought. only the unprepared are apprehensive.
