Welcome to womenhood. Yes you do gain weight during puberty and before your period. The excess weight is due to the build up of lining in the uterus and fluid. The best time to weigh your self is usually the week after your period has ended because that is when you no longer are carrying around all that extra fluid. in the mean time don't worry you'll be fine just stick to your normal routine.

I alway gain about 3-5 pounds a few days before, but I've usually lost it by the end. The only reason I even noticed a difference is because I weigh myself every evening out of habit (there is a scale right next to the my bath).

I have the same problem.. but its not much weight. It really depeneds on the girl.
Aparently if you eat plenty of dairy and vitimin D, it can make you have less water tension.. which is the weight you put on before your perioud.
It is totally normal, so don't worry. Girls tend to get more paranoid before their period so you might think youve put on more weight than you actually have due to generally suffering from PMS.
These are the symptoms of PMS.
Weight gain from premenstrual water retention
Abdominal bloating
Breast tenderness
Stress or anxiety
Depression
Crying spells
Mood swings, irritability or anger
Appetite changes and food cravings
Trouble falling asleep (insomnia)
Joint or muscle pain
Headache
Fatigue (medical)
Acne
Trouble concentrating
Social withdrawal
Body temperature increase
Worsening of existing skin disorders, and respiratory (eg, allergies, infection) or eye (eg, visual disturbances, conjunctivitis) problems
It sucks don't it!
Hope this helps

Well it's not that you are gaining weight. It's rather you get gases inside your stomach and intestines (heppens to everyone) and then this makes you feel like you have a huge tummy. And clothes don't fit too good neither. I hate it, I'm glad to be in the last couple of days of my period, it's better now! Hope you'll do good too ;)

That answer about chocolate was ridiculous.
Your weight gain is not true weight gain, as previously stated. Your body is retaining water, and you become bloated because your body's cells are saturated with water. Many women take medicine such as Midol to reduce the symptoms associated with PMS, including bloating. Luckily, after you have served your week, your body will naturally rid itself of the water it began to store, so expect to lose roughly 3-5 pounds, as previously stated.

You dont really gain weight during your period.....during this time of the month your body likes to obtain water which causes you to bloat....but some women may gain a pound or two if they have cravings for fatty foods or chocolates.....this is only a way of nature at its course so just go with the flow gurlie! :)
