because religious people will try to alter science to fit their needs and not accept the truth about the results of science.

"some scientific ideas could be laced with religous concepts"
Sorry, but no. Science is science. Science depends on facts.
Religion depends on faith. There is no place for faith in science. Maybe there is place for facts in religion, I'm not religious so I don't know.
As for evolution: it _is_ conceivable that (a) god started it, however, natural selection is one of the cruelest conceivable methods of progress. Just look at the whole prey/predator thing, or the numerous species which have simply died out. Not exactly loving.

Science and Christianity have worked together for centuries. The basic Christian idea is that God has created a world that is not chaotic and is understandable, at least to a great degree. Many of the great scientists, i.e. Newton were Christians.
I agree that organized religion has sometimes put it's heavy foot down as in the case of Galileo.
We can say that evolution is God's method for creating us but that is not a scientific statement. Science must be careful to neither include nor exclude God - not a simple task.

I believe in Genesis record, but it would be totally OK if we evolved. No matter how it happened I believe that God did this.
However, Jesus ( who is God ) gave His Word to us before He visited the earth. And He did not change anything about the Scripture. So it is not a big deal for me.
I am also interested in science to some degree. The science is not the only way of knowing things. I place my trust in God. : )

Chloe- Religion and science MUST work together if we are trying to have a better understanding of the world and of ourselves.
All indicates that evolution was God's way of making us. Its an extremely beautiful and elegant process.
Look into theistic evolutionism to see that many people are already looking for common grounds between science and religion

And many many more.

The so called science is just UNPROVEN THEORIES.
BLUFFS!
1) The "scientists" say life comes form matter. We say make an egg where chicken can come out. Prove it!
From a Lemon tree which is living you get the chemical citric acid. COMMON SENSE . THIS proves LIFE COMES FROM LIFE - NOT FROM CHEMICALS.
2) The "scientists" say man came from monkey.
So why not coming now? Came only once WHY?
BLUFF!

4 children in whom was no blemish, but well-favored, and skillful in all wisdom, and cunning in knowledge, and understanding "science", and such as had ability in them to stand in the king's palace, and whom they might teach the learning and the tongue of the Chaldean's.

Science and religion DO harmonize! True religion must conform to science, or it's just a bunch of wives tales.
In the Baha'i Faith, we believe in the unity of science and religion; that without religion, science is just materialism, and without science, religion is just superstition.
