Kanji site was already mentioned, but here is a fun one after you have the basics of hiragana.

http://www.fll.purdue.edu/ultimate/hiragana.htm

The object is to click on the hiragana in the proper order.

http://www.kanjisite.com

it not only describes the hiragana and katakana alphabets. it also tells you how to use them and how certain prenounciation/spellnig rules work. (like Ki + Yo = Kyo)

whats also very handy that if you move your mouse over a japanese letter, itll show its prenounciation in romanji. so you can kinda use to site as a practice sheat for learning the letters.

it also has a vast kanji library, wit hthe kanji ordered by their JLPT level. (japanese language proficiëntcy test) with each kanji, there will be several compounds that cotnain the kanji, and their prenounciation and meaning.
