He then studied under Prof. Klampen at the Academy of fine arts in Vienna . He mainly painted (oils) landscapes of Germany.
I checked on the web for these schools and came up with nothing....I would greatly appreciate any of your knowledge.

Hi! Just some thoughts... and a few possible leads... think about the dates. It's possible your artist didn't survive the Holocaust. However, there is a reference to a painting sold in 1991 by S. Gruber on: http://www.artnet.com/Artists/LotDetailPage.aspx?lot_id=FC61AC28D1A0BB9F
through the Canadian auction house: http://www.iegor.net/iegorall/view_items.php?lang=en You could contact them. There is another artist born 1920 (US) named Shirley Moskowitz Gruber:
(1) (data about Jewish art and culture by Professor Gruber) http://jsp.syr.edu/default_files/gruber.html
(2) (her daughter) http://www.tommywood.com/archives/2005/01/whose_culture_i.php
(3)http://www.printcenter.org/pc_press.html
(4) http://www.askart.com/askart/m/shirley_edith_mrs_jacob_w_gruber_moskowitz/shirley_edith_mrs_jacob_w_gruber_moskowitz.aspx
Anyway... you never know.. one lead may lead to another.
I wish you so much good luck!
