Our family dresses to the shoe each morning even if we are not going to work or school. On the weekend we may be lazy for a few hours, but we always get dressed? Are we the only family that does this anymore.

We don't completely dress all the time. But we do have ceramic tile floors, and after we first moved in my feet were killing me all the time from walking around barefoot or w/ only socks.

So even if we're in our pajamas, we put our shoes on.

(right now I'm in a purple Tshirt, turquois pajama pants w/ goldfish on them, socks and sneakers)

I think the whole 'not wearing shoes inside' thing started in the 80's with that horrible light peach colored carpet that everyone ran out to get. It showed the slightest amount of dirt no matter what you did.

Also, the influx of different cultures has had an effect - many leave their shoes outside and dont even bring them inside the house.

If you think about it - there is alot of dirt and stuff you dont even want to know about that gets on the bottom of your shoes - so it may not be a bad idea to go shoeless inside - especially when you have little ones playing on the floor where you walk.

We have a tile floor in the family room, hallway, kitchen, and kitchen eating area. We dont usually wear shoes inside - maybe slippers if the tile is really cold.

No, you aren't the only family. We get dressed each morning. We wear shoes and socks indoors, too. However, each member of our family has shoes that they only wear indoors. Regular shoes get all kinds of bacterial filth on the bottom of them that I don't want tracked all over my home.

I think it's a matter of what works in your home/family.

Besides the fact that we bring the dirt, bacteria from outside in our homes irrespective of whether we have carpet or woodfloors in our houses.

Barefeet relaxes the feet muscles and relieves the stress too. If you have young ones who play, crawl on the floor it is absolutely necessary that we try to keep floors clean by not wearing outside shoes.
Even though it is a cultural thing for us to not wear shoes inside the house, we do wear bathroom slippers or socks for practical reasons like weather. So it is all a matter of comfort and hygience.

People are different so you should do whatever you like and works best for you. My huband and I do not care to put socks or shoes inside the house, especially in warm weather and as you can imagine, our daugther loves to go barefoot too. Our floor is all carpeted so it actualy feels nice to walk barefoot.

I doubt you're the only ones, but it wouldn't work in my house. Heck, I think everyone would go naked if they were by themselves. You will seldom see anyone with shoes and socks on inside our outside of our home for that matter.

My mom wears socks and shoes all day because if it's daylight, she likes to be busy.

I never wear shoes if I can help it.
