One of our regulars SusanJ is very upset over this site and I can understand why, for the last 2 days there have been very nasty questions about the Catholic Church and Susan is a very devout Catholic who has recently gone through cancer, 2 strokes and a tumor on the brain, which was only 3 weeks ago.
Susan emailed me and asked for forgiveness in getting upset and let her friends know that she is going to give it a rest for a while as she is going through chemo and everything upsets her lately.
Basically where is the love here, is it your place to judge someones Religion or faith here?
Susans question is below
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
You've made a wonderful person, who is going through a very tough personal tribulation right now, but who always answers with the true love of Christ, and turned her into something she would see as volitile....
Way to go, this is to "Christians" and all the others on here who only hate....

The top half was a "question" from another user, I copied and pasted, put my 2 cents worth, because I think more people should see it...

Hey G....did you read my question at all??
This isn't about the Catholic church, it's about a Catholic person..........
Yeah, most of them do know their past, but you weren't alive back then, so why does the "opression" of your ancestors affect you? You don't hear my whining because the Irish were seen as horrible people when they came to America do you? ........well right there I did, but I normally don't.

How, exactly, is your question showing love? (of any kind)
I agree that there are many negative and hurtful things written here. I'm sorry.
Do you have a plan to help her through her pain?
Hate will only produce more hate. Think about it.

If she is so upset about this site don't come. The Catholic Church just spent a truck load of money in settlements to the victims who were molested by priests. Of course since it is in the news people are going to come in here and say negative things about the Catholic Church. Priests molesting children is a subject we must talk about so the abuse can end. The Catholics can not keep hiding from the truth. If Susan J is so ill then she should not come to a place that is going to upset her and then use you as her mouth piece. I am sorry for her ill health but should people really stop posting what they believe just to NOT upset Susan J? No way. No one is forced to come here.

Im not relligious at all - in fact I dont even look at the relligious questions normally I believe that people should be free to believe what they believe and if they take comfort in that then great! I also believe I have the right not to be relligious.
Your link to Susan's question didnt work so I dont know anything about the whole thing but thought I would put my 2cents in and hope she recovers fully from everything.
**OK the new link works** - she seems very angry I obviously have no idea what pushed her to say the things she said but just reading the first 4-5 responses they have been much nicer and friendlier and even loving than her question - Im not surprised just from the information I have (which I know isnt the full story) that people have been rude to her. Again I hope she finds what she is looking for and that she recovers from her many ailments.

Catholicism is a religion with its problems and its positive aspects. I don't hate Catholicism... on the other hand, Islam is pure cr@p started by a desert rat mohammed who was a thief, bandit and p@edofile
***
In fact Muslims always bring up the Crusades (hundreds of years ago) in conversation as a way to try and make Catholics look bad. Of course, muslims are liars who will not tell you the whole story. The popes involved in the Crusades authorized forces to fight the muslims who were raping, murdering, pillaging, caravan robbing, and conquering their way into Europe. The kind of atrocities committed by the Catholics were terrible- but were nothing compared to the atrocities being committed by the muslims. People need to know this... and of course, that kind of thing would never happen now with the Catholic church- they have changed.
Islam, on the other hand, hasn't changed. They are still in the stone ages. Islam is responsible for and involved in over 90% of the current war conflicts in the world today

Well, give MY best to Susan, let her know I sympathize - chemo can be not fun, especially for an otherwise strong and energetic active person. My mom in law hated it every step of the way.
Tell her I said take it easy, feel better- I'll ask my aunt to say a prayer for her - she's a devout Catholic who did the chemo herself - so she''ll know how to say it well.
My best wishes to Susan and wishes for her speedier recovery and little sickness from this round.

She can take this as a positive and think she is being tested by god. Isn't that what you people do? Feel tested? There you go.
Though I haven't made any comments about the Catholic church (I don't need to add to their looking foolish than what they've done themselves) as of late, I wouldn't apologize if I did. This Susan you are sepaking of is clearly at an age where she can either a) stop reading the tripe that is here or b) don't let what is said here get to her. If she is devout, she should let that stand to guide her. Don't be so affected by pithy comments made by people you don't agree with.
It's people like you and she that has made PC (politically correctness) so mandatory. I shall not apologize because my opinion, my statements, my beliefs don't fall inline with yours. And I especially won't apologize if I've said something to offend you. Even if I didn't mean to offend.
I'm sorry she has cancer.. but that's it.

So? Everyone who criticizes the RCC is supposed to feel guilty now? Is that it? Guilt is a big drawing card for religionists, particularly Catholics. Well, I don't play that game, brother.
This is not the place to spill your guts about your personal struggles and problems or those just created for effect...and it's certainly not the place to be spilling the struggles and problems of others or those just created for effect. If you can't take a little criticism not directed at you, personally, find something else to do with your leisure time.

If you wantto ask a question,,be preparred to want the answer, good or bad,, if youcant take the truth,, then dont ask a question,, this is not a sugar-coated world we live in,, and people have the right to belive in what they want, and think what they want. So people who are rude to christians and such,,, they are just expressing themselves as they feel they are being treated by others. Shamefull I know!! If we could all just co-exist in harmony,, no matter what our belives.
Blessed Be
DRAGON
Ps. I'm glad she got better.

Tsk, tsk. This is an open forum. That is no excuse for being abusive but this is a place to express ones opinions. If Ms. SusanJ wants to put her feelings in public, she has to be able to take criticism. I understand going through chemo is dark and horrible but Yahoo! Answers is not a Christian forum, let alone a sole Catholic forum. She desires comfort, but in her fragile state this is not the place. She needs to find a true, nurturing Catholic site where people will blog about feelings and ideas she also shares. Or better yet find comfort in a real church. Sorry. (Shrugs.)
The people who responded to her rant probably won't apologize because they will A) miss the post or B) don't care. To the vast majority, your post just comes off as a hypocritical, raving Christian. It's not helping your plight.

I knew nothing of this before, but seriously, if she seriously has had as many health problems, she should stay away from R&S simply becuase people are going to bash. Not just Catholics, but Mormons, Muslims, JW's, etc. That's just how it is.
