Me again with effexor. Can anyone tell me what their experience with Effexor was? I am extremely tired - I do not think one can call it tired anymore; it feels as if my mind does not wake up during the day. Concentration at work is almost impossible and in the evenings I do not have enough brainpower to even watch TV. My quality of life is 0% at this stage. In addition, my eyes are so dry that even the best eye drops do not seem to help. I live in a region with quite dry air but has never had it this bad before. Would it help to have a steam-machine (like used when people have pneumonia) in my room? I had an appointment with the psychiatrist yesterday but missed it due to bad traffic (accident on the highway). Am going again on Friday. I am seriously going to ask her to put me on Cymbalta.

sometimes it takes several weeks for a person to adjust to a medication, even if they have taken it before... side-effects for the intitial period is common.

i believe it's just fine to ask the doctor to switch medications. remember, you may have some side effects for a while from any type of medication at the onset.

i hope you feel better soon.

take care of YOU

I noticed I was always thirsty, I felt dehydrated and tired and itchy. I didn't like it at all at first, but then I started drinking enough water, and that helped. I had to drink about a gallon of water throughout day... You can switch medication if you think it would help, but there will be a whole new set of side-effects to deal with. Extreme thirst isn't all that bad, by comparison...

For the tired, at first I tried to take it at night, thinking it would make me go to sleep, and it did, but then I couldn't wake up (because I hadn't had the water I needed in the hours I was asleep)... Then I switched my sleep schedule, so I took it as soon as I woke up in the morning, with a lot of water, and I waited a bit for the woogly feeling to wear off.
