A friend of mine and I'm not sure of his age but it is over 30. He started cutting himself again after stopping 10 years ago. I know this is not normal but is their any other adult out there that do this at that age?

I have a family member who is close to 30 and does this. When I have talked with him it is clear that he hurts so deeply on an emotional level that physical pain is a release from the other. It makes absolutely no sense to those that have never been there, but it is what it is. There is no age to these acts either, not just dumb kids do it. Self mutilation is only reasoned by the cutter. Try to be a shoulder, an ear, or a positive influence. Encourage medical help without appearing judgemental or superior.

He needs to go back to the doctor immediately to either change the dosage of the medications or change the medications he is on immediately before he ends up in the emergency room. He should call the doctor NOW!!!

In my scenario, I had the change the medication that ended up costing my job (last Friday). The medication made me dumb, forgetful, and short-term memory. I got lost finding job that was only a mile away, I lost my keys and my cellular phone daily. I learned through the internet that the nickname was "Dopamax" because it makes you "dopey". I called my doctor to immediately me tapered off. As a result, I cannot go to interview or do any job search because I cannot remember what I did.

I think the reason he is starting to cut himself again after stopping 10 years ago is he might had tapered off the medication. That would caused him to have a chemical imbalance. As a result, he went back to the same chemical imbalance he had been 10 years ago. There is nothing to be ashamed of. He should thankful that there is medications out there to help alter the chemical imbalance of the brain, which didn't exist 50 or more years ago.

I'm only 26, but hear me out.

When I was in high school, I knew kids who would cut themselves. they told me that it helped them deal with "the pain". Apparently, your friend is experiencing some sort of pain that he feels unable to deal with. As a result, he cuts himself to take is mind off of his ordeal. He's replacing one type of pain for another. Other people have said that you should get him some professional help & I agree. But first, give him an open ear. Many people wonder if there is anything they could say to help a friend. Sometimes, it's better to say nothing at all. Just listen. JUST LISTEN.
Jst because he's over 30, it doesn't mean that he's lost feeling. Even after a decade, certain things can trigger habits again.

I am 30 and I do not cut but i erase like you would mistake on a piece of paper. It helps relieve the stress build up. I will go for periods of time where I am fine and then other times I have to do it 2-3 times a day.

Why does this question have an age limit. If you're under 30 does that make you to stupid to answer? I'd say to get him help, but I'm under 30.
