council tax is due at the BEGINNING of the Fiscal Year - eg 6th April each year.
However, by concession the councils allow the public to pay it in monthly installments over the year.
If you do not, you lose the right to pay monthly and have to stump up the whole lot.
If you keep ignoring the letters they will take you to court.
It also affects your credit record for things like loans, credit cards and mortgages.

I suggest you have a good look at the original bill and read it properly.
If it actually says that you have until March 2008 to pay then take it to the court as evidence. But I shall be very surprised if this is the case. The bill covers services for 2007/08 but payment is needed before the end of the year.
Councils offer different schemes with different due dates. Yours would have been detailed on the bill, probably in the bottom section if they are like the ones I've seen.
Do contact the council immediately. Either pay the amount due or arrange some instalment plan. If they agree make sure you stick to the payments.
Remember council tax is one debt you can be jailed for. And many councils make a point of pushing for prosecutions.

A court docket summons/ legal duty order does not seem on a criminal checklist or a credit checklist. do not difficulty suitable to the submit above with regard to an arrest warrant - this would only be issued as quickly as a committal listening to is made for non fee - it particularly is a protracted way down the line yet. As for the 1st submit - the council evaluate you're actually not a pupil till adequate evidence is presented - till then you definately are actually not legally entitled to a chit/exemption and the summons has been wisely issued.

Just pay your council tax - I have to even though I do not agree with the greedy figures the council demand.

A summons ???? is it not a final demand?????
Call your local council and arrange repayment.
They do that now.....they send you a final demand if your a month late stating they want full payment for the year.....just give them a call.
