Fishing can't be all bad. There's more 50+ fishermen in "good health" than Bowler's or Golfer's ,(in my opinion)!

I think being in the Outdoors keeps you young,(except when your fishing on a boat with a 4YR old, a 12 YR old, & a 15 YR old. THAT makes you feel OLDDDDD! LMAO).

Heck, Jesus liked to fish and make water into wine! Def a guy I wouldn't mind having around after "weigh-in"! (teasin') (Don't everyone "freak"! God/Jesus has a sense of humor too! Look at the platypuss! lol)

My idea of "church" is going fishing and admiring "HIS" work. I'll bet 75% of the worlds problem's would be eliminated if we all went fishing, then had a "World Wide Fish Fry" instead of going to "church" every Sunday! Nothing "bad" seems to ever happen at fish fry's!

Do you agree?

(now if I could just convince my wife of this theory!) lol

I know a guy in St. Augustine, 5th generation St. Augustinian as a matter of fact, he's... hmm... he retired the other year at 75 years old, so he's gotta be 77 or so now, and has never eaten grocery store meat in his life... I'd put him up against any 20 year old I know. Raised on venison and wild turkey and mullet and fresh-dug clams and whatever else could be shot or fished.

I'm not much on religion, but I do figure if Divinity made all this stuff for us, shouldn't we be out enjoying it? And if you were omnicient, all-powerful and omnipresent, wouldn't you rather be out enjoying your Creation rather than sitting in a stuffy old building? Anyway... yeah, as long as it's the First Nondenominational Nonjudgemental Church of the Fish Fry, I'll be there.

When I fish, I don't remember getting religious about it but being on in my years I have always fished for consumption and not trophies and aside from a few aches and pains I plan on fishing many more years.

And yes I feel it is healthy to get out and enjoy nature even if it isn't fishing.

And I don't think that you noticed that all such people were out doors minus their Wives. So how do you apportion the contribution made by each?Like at fish fry's,nothing seems to go bad at 'church' either. Why not combine both and have fried fish in the name of the Lord?Ahem....

You are absolutely correct. It is a way to reduce stress. Less stress, longer life. Your doctor should be able to convince her. Just make sure you invite him on the next fishing trip. I'm sure he will cooperate.

Part of your observation might be the opposite effect. I mean that sick people are unlikely to be fishing and otherwise playing outdoors. Also, sitting on one's butt and eating potato chips is not so healthy!

Not true. My cousin was eaten by a bear at the age of 13 and he loved the outdoors.
