Can you file taxes, if you worked under other name, w2’s 1099, have someone else names but that person is me. I worked with other name, all I want is to pay taxes, because under my real name there are no earning and I sort of want to fix this problem what can I do? Does the irs will let me claim those earnings, and pay them back even though that is a name I made up?

Did you also use someone else's social security number, or were both number and name completely made up? That person is going to be getting a notice from the IRS that they owe more taxes because of the earnings you made. Then the IRS will investigate with your employer, asking for information about who really earned the money.

Are you not legally able to work in the US, and that's why you made them up? The IRS will still investigate with your employer when they report a ssn that doesn't exist.

Did you use your real ssn, but made the name up? Your employer will get a notice from the IRS that the name doesn't match the ssn, and your employer will want to know why you lied about your name.

In any case, you are in trouble.

An alias is not uncommon...aka (also known as); however, it is important that the social security number given be the same irregardless of the name used. One pays taxes based upon the information sent to the IRS by employers that give the SSN in conjunction with earnings information. In order to prevent being charged with income tax evasion, you need to contact the Internal Revenue Service and ask them how to correct your return or how to file. Using an income tax preparation service is another alternative to living "on the lamb" and dodging Uncle Sam...lol.

There are several steps to correct the issue here.

First, are you an alien without a tax ID?

If so, you will need to file your tax return alone with these W-2 and the IRS will issue you the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number.

If you need someone (Acceptance Agent) to process this, you may
check on this

An Acceptance Agent is an individual, business or organization (college, financial institution, accounting firm, etc.) authorized by IRS to assist individuals in obtaining ITINs.

Now for the people who (majority of us) have social security number. You will need to ask your employer (personal department) to reissue you another W-2. It is call W-2c.

If your employer does not know, ask him/her go to
http://www.socialsecurity.gov/employer/

selecting “Electronically File Your W-2cs”, and logging into “Business Services Online.” SSA's “Create Forms W-2c Online” option allows you to create “fill-in” versions of Forms W-2c and Form W-3c for filing with the SSA and to print out copies of the forms for filing with state or local governments, distribution to your employees, and for your records.

For 1099MISC, you just need to report it on your schedule C and inform your boss the SS# and/or name are wrong on the original document.

JUST IN CASE your firm is doing the W-2C by mail-in, you may want to wait a week or so to mail in the tax return.

I will not recommend that you use substitute W-2 to complete it.
