i was wondering if there are any dangerous health risks to getting a tattoo when you are over 70. my grandma wants to get a small tattoo but i am worried. she has talked with her doctor and i have searched online to see but the only thing i found was allergic reactions to latex and metal. i just want to know if anyone knows more about it. thanks.

I have tattooed eyebrows on a 98 year old! That being said, the older someone is, the more compromised they can be for healing whether or not they have diabetes. On older clients it is better to not work on ankles, for instance, since the blood flow is not always the best. Also, if there is more than one session needed, the older someone is, the longer they should wait between visits - at 70, at least two months. 70 is still young these days, though.

There should be no reason she can't get a tattoo unless she's allergic to the possible metals in the ink (some metals are required to make certain colors) or if she's diabetic she shouldn't get one because they don't heal properly. If her skin is in good condition and she can keep it moisturized and keep some A&D ointment on it, there's no reason she can't get a small tattoo :-)

no.. some lady on miami ink got a tattoo she was 70 i think it was here first one... i have heard of a few others who are very old and getting there 1st tattoo...tell her to go for it.. make sure she eats befroe she goes .. she should be fine as long as she isnt allergic to the latex or the ink ..if she is allergic to latex let them know they have special gloves for people like that

Discuss it also with a good tattoo artist. I dont see why it should be a problem, but I would check to be sure.

If her doctor doesn't have a problem with it I don't see why not! If shes on blood thinners there could be a problem.

it depends. at 70 she might be too old bc her skin is too thin. it might rip

I think you can be because your skin has to have a certain durability, and elasticity. Your grandmother's skin may be too fragile.
