I was wondering after you have a newborn baby... how long it takes after you get home to get enough rest to where you can go back to getting in touch with others like friends to let them know that you had your baby???? Thanks!

Friends of mine recently had a baby girl she sent an sms, or instant message to everyone within an hour of having her. Her Hubby , My best mate, was asleep!!!

Honey it depends on the individual. some people bounce back faster than others. I had seven and I know it can be very exhausting for the first week or so. What you could do is call your friend and ask how she is doing, and maybe even ask if there is something you can do to help. She would probably really like the offer. at least you would be able to find out how she is doing. God bless you for caring so much about your friend. Wish I had a friend like you when I had my babies. Take care.God be with you and your friend and new baby.

I called everyone from the hospital an hour after I delivered the baby, and some while I was in labor with the baby. Gave me something to do besides just play cards with my hubby.

By the way, you won't actually get any rest until the child is around 6 months old.

Wow. Theres not specified time frame for that. I suggest waitng a couple of weeks ( since you know she had the babe) and let her get somewhat rested. Maybe drop a casual note or call, but dont get offended if she cant reply. Newborns are not into schedules and she will likely be trying to sleep when the baby sleeps. Social life is the first thing to suffer when you have kids. :)

It depends on the mother and how hard or easy her labor was.
It's called "labor" for a reason.....it's hard work and if it was long, she's probably a little worn out and it might be a couple of weeks before she's ready for company.
And with some women, it's a matter of hours....so give her time, I'm sure she's excited about her friends seeing her new bundle of joy.

Everyone adjusts differently. For me, it took a couple of weeks. I'vd had friend that felt comfortable with company within a day or two. I've know others that total separated themselves for months before getting back to normal. It is all what you make it, and how you feel.

There is no set rule as to when you can function normally again. Your body will tell you that.
