Yup, I was on the original called Lamictin. It was great for my OCD, but made me feel like a zombie at times. It seems like have a good combination of meds for bipolar. Sequel is a very strong one, as is Lamictin, but you are probably taking it at night? It makes you sleep like a bomb! I was not aware that it causes diabetes. There may be all kinds of side effects, but did you here that from your doc? Be careful of the rumors of the side-effects of chemical-balancing meds though. Have you tried Risperdal? Ask your doc about it, its more of a mild one, but works as an all rounder for these syndromes...I was on it & it made me feel better, whilst still in control. I am now totally off of my meds for 2 months. I went cold turkey & had about 2 weeks of feeling really bad (anxious, panic attacks, nausia, etc.), but it went away. I am now trieng it out on my own & am doing pretty well. Good Luck! :)

I've taken Lamictal for the past couple years for bipolar 1 and it's worked great. The only noticable side effect I had was trouble finding the right words when I'm talking or writing - that annoying thing where you know what you want to say but can't think of the word. It's worth that sacrifice to be stable, though.

I've been on Lamictal for about a year and a half now. It's been working great for me. In the past I've tried several different antidepressants, but it turns out that I need a mood stabilizer instead (I'm bipolar2). I'm on the maximum dose of 400 mg. I don't have any side affects. I've never felt like a zombie. The doctor will give you a five-week starter pack so you can slowly work up to the minimum dosage of 200 mg. This is very important because there is a risk of a rare, but potentially fatal skin rash. But please, don't let that scare you. It's worked great for me.

I had hair loss from Depakote (she doesn't happen to be on that too, does she?), up to now now not from Lamictal (knock on wood.) after I went on Depakote, the dr endorse I take Selenium, Biotin, Zinc & Copper (imagined to be taken collectively), and one different complement (that I can not do not forget correct now) so as to cut back the obstacle. I bought each one seperately, for the reason that the amount advocated used to be lots better dose than what is located in a multi-diet and it's not secure to develop the dose of a multivitamin to get that high of an amount of these particular minerals. For me, it did not definitely aid much - or maybe it did and i would've ended up bald without it! - and after freaking out and attempting the whole thing I might to make it discontinue (together with pricey precise shampoos), I eventually needed to go off of the treatment. It did develop again in after i finished the med, despite the fact that it took somewhat whilst. I've long wavy hair and despite the fact that it wasn't terribly noticable to others, i couldn't not see it. It just came out so much, it would depart me crying.

hi....

i took lamictal and it seemed to do ok... the only side effect i had was some dizziness.

at first i had dry mouth, but that subsided.

just because the medication works for me, doesn't mean it's good for everyone. each individual is different.

i hope it works well for you! if not, let your doctor know after you give it some time.

take care!

Lamictal can cause death. I was taking it and had a serious allergic reaction to it to where I started acting out and lost my memory and had to be hospitalized.
