If Christianity is peaceful, why would a nation with a Christian majority (like oh... say... the US?) want nuclear weapons?

Doesn't take a genius to figure this out. Irani s working on nuclear power precisely why all other countries are - to improve their military defense power. And besides being peaceful does not mean being a dumbo. Forget about Iran for the moment. If someone hits you, what will you do, present your other cheek? Of course you will defend yourself. Thats only but natural.

they say they want nuclear power, actually. centrifuges must be used whether one wants bombs or power plants, their presence proves nothing.

on the other hand if i was in charge of iran, and saw that iran, iraq and north korea had been singled out as enemies by the world's only superpower, and subsequently the one that definitely did NOT have nukes, that is iraq, was invaded... well what am i going to do? it's only sensible to get nukes, or maybe cheaper to create a plausible illusion that i'm going to get nukes, and also work on nuclear power so i can sell my oil to them for a bit longer.

oh and what does islam have to do with it?

If I was Iran, I would want a nuclear deterrent as well. Consider that the U.S. has called them an evil country and they have just seen the U.S. invade the country of Iraq and basically take it over.

The country that has the most missiles and now appears to be willing to invade countries at will appears to be the U.S. If I was Iran, I would want a little protection too.

It's got nothing to do with Islam. It's got everything to do with protecting your country and way of life. It's called sovereignty...and the U.S. has shown little regard for that lately.

this is not religion and spirituality. this is politics. maybe the iranian government wants nuclear weapons but that does not mean that the nation, the people of islam are not peaceful. i also agree with one of the other answers. why is our one nation, concieved under god concerned with being the only nation to maintain its weapons of mass destruction?

Exactly the same reason why US and Israel have nuclear weapons. It's all political, what religion has to do with it?

Do you mean 'peaceful' like your insular, religiously power based and war mongering nation LOG..?

Have another drink of denial my right wing religuious fruitcake friend.. Face it, no body wants Iran to be able to behave like another religiously inspired America, like the one you 'believe' in, and who could blame them..?
