Atheists: please play along. Answering you don't believe doesn't add anything to the conversation.

djmantx: So if heaven's permanent, and there's no threat of hell, what's to stop people from doing bad things and acting, well... human?

Not possible to go to hell after being in heaven because there is no sin in heaven. Sin is an offense to God and God lives in heaven.

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." - Revelation 21:4

Wow! That is a really good question. Let's just talk hypothetically because neither I or you have actually been there to know.

I would have to say that yes, it would be "possible" for us to mess up and be banished from heaven only because we were created with free will. We have and always will have the ability to make a choice.

But looking at it like this: You were born on earth grew, lived and died trying to please The Almighty Creator. You spent your entire life trying to know, learn and spend time with The Almighty Creator and only by The Almighty Creator's mercy were you granted the Kingdom of Heaven. Think of all that you went through, all that you did, not knowing and living by faith and that you finally saw the face of The Almighty Creator in all power, honor and splendor.

For a true believer, with an earnest heart, the shear awe of being in the presence of The Almighty Creator would (should) cause all to ( I couldn't even begin to describe the feeling, I'm sure you can image the reverence and respect ). I don't think anyone who lived on Earth would jeopardize losing that privilege.

But I do think it is possible to "mess up" and be banished from Heaven because (like others have said) there are fallen angels. Just think of the journey that someone has to walk to get to Heaven. I don't think they'll mess it up once they get there.

Wow what a great question! bravo. Now I'm not a Bible scholar and in fact I recieved my knowledge through personal reading of Hid Word. But God does say in the end of Revelation after Heaven descends down and people are occupying it that He will release satan from the abyss and satan will get one more chance to decieve the nations.... So in my minds Heaven is the final stage, but not the final chapter. I believe that some in heaven will be decieved by the fact that once you make it your safe for eternity and might become vulnerable for a second attack from satan. But I might have missenturpretted the scripture. So read it yourself like I said It's at the end of Revelations. Thank you and I hope this helps many.

No, because you have ran the race, and you have fought the good fight. You are in Heaven rejoicing and happy permanently. God is preparing a place for us. When the end times occur, the world will be destroyed and all of God's people will be on the "New Earth"

Well Lucifer and his Ark Angels were Banished to the center of the earth, because Lucifer wanted to Be God, and so he tried to overthrow God with and army that was only 1/3 the size of God's army, and God beat him, and Banished him to hell, where he would be bound, and can never leave. In Christ you are saved, and you can come into the Heavens, just follow God's plans for you, and you will be OK.
