The father and I are not married. We were both baptized and recieved all of our sacraments (he did not do confirmation). He is not practicing and even denounces Catholic faith. However I really want the baby baptized. Willl the church accept a baptism for a baby out of wedlock and can I do this without his help?

follow up....I understand babies are without sin. Catholics have a different way of doing things. We have sacraments, and there are other continuing ceremonies that prepare us for accepting God, repentance, and so on.

There's no reason at all that your baby cannot be baptized in the Catholic Church, so long as there is a reasonable expectation that he/she will be rasied as a Catholic.
And by the way, the church officially teaches that ALL are born stained by the original sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve, and that baptism IS typically necessary for salvation.

depending if u follow the bible or not
if u do, then why baptize the baby
baptism should be done to those who already sin against God, children are without sin and cant have faith, therefore if u follow the bible, u dont have to and have no reason to batize a baby
nowhere in the bible can u find baptism being carried out to a child, how more more to a baby
if ask me, can i baptize my baby cathilic
yes u can , they allow it, but catholism i think is based on the bible, human beings make mistakes , and if u believe it is not right to do something biblically, then even if your church does it, u shouldnt

Yes you can, just stop in at the church monastery and speak with one of the priest, and make the arrangements, one of my relatives had her baby baptized in church. Enjoy your baby, and give her all the love you have, and things will work out. God Bless

Baptism is something you do when you repent of your sins and promise to follow Jesus, and live your life according to his teachings, it is an affirmation of your handing over of your sins to God, therefore it doesn't really matter, as babies cannot confess their sins, its something done by people able to make their own decisions.

Yes, if there is some assurance that the child will be brought up as a Catholic.
Call your local parish and talk to the person who coordinates the baptisms.
With love in Christ.
