Why all men ask "so, what do you do for fun"?

They start: "Hi, I like you, I am (John, Tim, whatever). So, what do you do for fun?"
Do they all attend some special course in school and are teach to talk like this? Or is it some secret code? Why is it so important for them to know what others do for fun?I have never in my life met a man who would not have asked me what I do for fun.

It's a test to see what kind of person you are and if you're going to give them a dirty answer. Either that or they really have nothing else to say and it's a way to get you talking.

No, It's the basic way every guy knows how to start a conversation. Now, here's the funny part. If you were to answer a guy honestly who just asked you that question, and say you answered..."I like to go to the beach, ride horses, hike," He would think instantly that you are fun loving, athletic, you still like to hit your party's once in a while, and on top of it all, fearless and sophisticated. So by a guy asking that one question, it's like a preliminary step into getting to know who you are, and what you're like. Testing the waters, should I say.

What they're all hoping you'll say is "Go out with someone exactly like you!" Ah, life and its persistent disappointments.
