that is the problem Moe, you dont ask family or friends to teach you to drive, i used to be just the same. my husband would start yelling at me and i would just give up, i had to learn to drive to get back and forth to work,so i enroled in a driving school. what a difference! i used to be so stressed before i went out that i had to take a gravol for fear of throwing up. my instructor was kind, patient AND he had a brake on the passenger side of the car! well i quit once but tried again and finally passed my driving test when i was 30. try again, dont give up, driving gives us freedom from depending on others. good luck.

It would be helpful to hear what your particular areas of difficulty are.
If there is trouble anticipating size, speed or distance, or difficulty reading street signs, it could be a good idea to have your eyes examined by an eye doctor.
Could it be a coordination difficulty
Do you have trouble being and staying aware of so many things all at the same time?
Some people, whether the extremely gifted, or easily distracted, or extremely fearful, or those who may hallucinate, etc.....have difficulty with concentrating their attention on the road, and are either unaware or are guessing when they need to act and react.
I have known some people, whether timid or agressive, or somewhat spacey, or those with siezures or some on medications that really do not belong behind the wheel.

One of my relatives is much like you. Riding the bus just works so much better for her. Atleast she's not out there risking her life as a traffic hazard, and besides, life is much more affordable without all the expense of a car.

When I as 4 years old, I had a dream that my little sister would drive me around in her car because I would never learn to drive myself. I am now 65 years old, have a drivers license, but loathe to drive. In itself, the inability to drive is life limiting; but what hurts the most is other people's reactions to the problem. Not everyone has the same skills in life. Some people have Ph.D's but cannot drive a car.

Before you give up, try a professional driving school. There are a lot of things to keep track of while driving, a lot of skills that would be a lot easier to learn when you're a teenager (teenagers can do anything, just ask one). And if you are one of the people who can't drive, live in a city with good public transportation and take the train to visit other citys with good public transportation.

Some people have poor spatial sense, so they can't coordinate where they are in regard to objects around them.
Be safe: take the bus.
