Sage Green - which tends toward a silver gray.
Soft Buttery Yellow - relaxing and positive
Beige/Creme/Taupe - neutrals that will tone down the red and give it a more classic feel. (my # 1 pick)
Use bright white trim with any of these colors. Buy a spread that incorporates the wall color + white. say a plaid or floral pattern. then buy a couple of throw pillows in the same color as the wall. They don't have to match the walls, just be kinda the same color. The same with some candles. Last find a great picture you really like. Your room is guaranteed to be place you and your friends will enjoy.
Go to thrift stores and yard sales to find great accessories at a cheap price.
Hope this helps.

The color complement to red (that is, opposite it on the color wheel) is green. So that's always a good color to bring in as an accent, like perhaps as an accent wall.
Don't go too intense when painting walls! Pick a really light pale green, but here's another trick: Get a green with some black pigment in it (go towards the darker colors on a color sample strip). The darker shade will give it some body and substance without overpowering with intensity.
If you're not too big on green, consider doing just one wall as an accent wall, and leaving the other three walls white.

I would try a tan color. It will give a classic look with the red carpet. With the tan as your wall color, you can chose other colors in your rooms decor as the "bold" color.....you can really go with any color for bedding and accessories since the tan will help neutralize the red carpet.

ok. if your carpet is red and your bedspread is also red but the question to ask is what shade is it? the color of your walls has to go with the shade of your red. how saturated is it with grey? with white? is your room big or small? you can either go for shades of white with tint of yellow ochre if your room is small but for huge rooms gray would be good. hope that helps.

For cool shades, black, silver blue work, for a warmer look golds, yellow, some shades of orange or even pink go nicely. White works too.
