b-friskey why would you say avoid like a plague? seems like you judging me from a question! you have no clue why i asked, for you to make a statement like that. all you needed to do was answer if you chose to do so.

for the ones that thought bad of me, the reason why i asked, is caue i DO love God, i DO seem to always talk bout him and yet i smoke. i wanted to see who would think in their heart bad bout me cause of the problem that i have. he has blessed me in so many ways. i came to the conclusion that i must REALLY want to quit and there must be other areas in my life he wants to grow me up in, before he starts convicting me of my smoking. thats just my personal opinion of myself not a fact that i know. but i did want to know if i was hurting my testimony if i was smoking and went to someone and say "God loves you and , and whatever the reason why we started talking bout. ive never lied bout my smoking and ive always been straight up even if i was smoking at first.

I have stopped to hear what someone has to say who was smoking.

I know they are destroying their temple but this does not mean God will not use them as a messenger.

They would make a better witness if they were not smoking.

Once a witness always a witness even if they kick you out.
Some have been enlightened to the truth of the bible by disfellowshipped ones.
When we do something like smoking which the bible calls drugery...(addictions are forbidden)....then they discipline you. While you are paying for your sin you need to stop doing the sin. But in the meantime your love for God has not lessened. So you continue to tell others about the wonderful things you know and how your knowledge can help them.

Of course it would carry more weight if you were clean and sober but even the Apostle Paul was all things to all men.

Time is short....lives are at stake.

To ask that question would be like asking, would you listen to anyone that is not perfect. And since Jesus plainly tells us that all have sin and come short of the Glory, my answer would be why not. I don't smoke nor drink but I just get tried of people condemning smokers when they are probably setting with a case of beer and whiskey in their fridge. We just need to watch the stones that we throw, lest one comes back to hit us in the head.

Yes I would. Smoking is not a sin. It may be stupid but it is not a sin unless God tells you to stop and you don't. This is a personal choice that is not spelled out in the Bible as right or wrong. (I am a non smoker.)

Nope, I'd have a hard time believing God helped them overcome sin's hold on them when they can't even free themselves from the chain of addiction.

Conviction aside, I think smoking is a sign of weakness. It tells people you can't handle life's stresses... and neither are you turning to God for that support.

You've got to pick which one will be your Lord... God or the cigarette?

Yeah I would...look at Johnny Cash, he is a legion, one of the best singers ever made by God! What is on the outside, doesn't always match the inside.

I would listen to someone with a cigarette in their mouth. I am assuming that you are talking about someone trying to "witness" for Christ with a cigarette in their mouth, right? And that is considered bad by Christians, right? *sigh* The message sure gets lost sometimes, doesn't it?

I could care less what they had in their mouth. Jesus is Jesus and truth is truth. The cigarette would be a great way to dispel the stigma of self righteousness in the children of GOD.

Apparently, they haven't heard that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Nope. I mean, who would want to listen to a guy who it seems like he doesn't care what kind of an impression he's making?
