I think women initiate marriage most of the time because they have been READY and you men didnt pick that up. It's like once we are ready, everysingle surprise, conversation, and gift is the BIG ONE or about it. Usually women dont say anything until they cant take it anymore. It's like a birght light goes off and thats it, for us its time. I wonder why men dont get it? It like your brains cant conceive a womans heart thoroughly. Well get this, when a woman is inlove and she tells you you're the one, pop the question that month!!!

I can honestly say that women are NOT the first to initiate marriage, as I was the first to bring it up to my wife. The fact that I was gives me a perspective on why it SEEMS that women are always the first to do so, and my perspective is this...

Women mature faster than men, women think about the future more than men, and women love better than men, at least between the ages of 16 and 30 they do. Around 30 is when men seem to catch up to women in maturity. Before 30 all a man is thinking about is geting laid, and is it worth sticking with this woman who, deep down inside I KNOW I could never spend the rest of my life with, but damn the sex is good, or she'll do things to me other girls won't. Until age 30 a man is a big child who wants to be able to play with his toys whenever he wants, shun any and all responsibility that he can, and stick his penis in as many women as he can. Now before I continue I need to say that this is a generalization, there are always exceptions to the rule, but to be fair your question is a generalization as well and I'll wager you know that. That having been said...
After thirty a man, (the lucky ones at least), realizes there's more to life than the physical, that true happiness with a woman involves actually knowing the difference between "making love", and f*#king, and it is at that point of his life that he proves your point wrong and will be the one to initiate marriage with a woman he knows he could spend the rest of his life with.

And so, judging by your question I'm going to guess you are under 30 :-) but I don't judge you for it because I was there once myself ;-) What I WILL tell you is that women DO know how to take care of that pony at that younger age, but the men from the age of 16 to 30 who act like animals as I did make them gun shy after a while which is why the smarter younger girls marry us guys over 30 ;-) BUT don't despair young jedi, there will be younger girls when you get here too, and their male counterparts are bound to be dumbasses too :-)

I wouldnt say always. I have a real fear of marriage. or is it a feeling of inconsistency? Whats the point of getting married if 30 years down the line, the husband feels he wants young 25 year old girl? I could tell you I Studied hard so I wouldnt need a man around...its stupid. Its human nature to want to share life with another being.
Getting married helps reduce tax amounts? its like a protection in case 1 of the 2 partners dies? it forces you to stick to one person? no...its all in your mind. IF you want to stray...you will stray, that ring on the finger wont do much against straying!
My current boyfriend is very ready to get married, but I think he knows my opinion about marriage, and so doenst pressure me.
Now, for the kid allusion...are you saying women get married but cant take care of the marriage afterward? so the husband is the pony? The animal who cant take care of himself actually or that you only just need to feed twice a day? This is a bit simplistic dont you think?
Marriage...relationship...commerce deals...its all about understanding, coimmunication, and pleasing both sides more or less.

Wow! I don't see how you can compare the two. Sixteen years into my marriage, and I think I'd rather have the pony, lol. But seriously, women are born and raised with an instinct to marry and have children- although some of us lose that instinct quickly. We are given dolls to play with, and toy kitchens. We are taught early in life that it's expected of us. We grow up learning what we're looking for and we think we know it when we see it. Society hasn't adjusted the way girls are raised to keep up with the times, so the instinct and training still tell us to marry, but if I had it to do over again I'd have never given my daughter a doll. She would have been taught to play with stethoscopes or briefcases.

Well, if you talked to an older woman I'm not sure you'd hear an over eager desire for marriage generally speaking.

Marriage is a ton of hard work and takes years to mature and develop.

I see your analogy with ponies as being accurate though. Some girls are terrible about wanting marriage. But, I doubt they realize what they are wishing for.

I think that is an unfair statement. I believe a lot of men initiate marriage. I suppose a lot of women do but certainly not all women.

not all women are like that. but, normally we do that because we are ready for marriage. If your not ready yet you need to say something. You men are the same way when it comes to sex. Most of you can be or are. But, sit down with her remind her how much you love her but, your not ready for marriage yet.

lol. well, i am a woman, and to be honest i dont really know the answer. except for the fact, that women are usually more emotional? they usually get attatched faster. is this something you want? i do have to say that i did initiate marriage with my fiance, but i didnt pressure him. he wasnt ready so i dropped it. maybe theres reasoning behind it? if this is happening to you, maybe you should talk to her, because it may be deeper than it appears.

Because most women by the time they reach a certain age they would like to settle down and have a family of their own.

i would not compare a marriage to boarding a pony.

if ur a stud, a woman will not have to ask u.

the stud is in control of his herd! Maybe it is time to move to

a wild horse, a free spirit. she will not want marriage, but will want her Independence.
