I would like to know about how long the healing process is, Can you wear shoes and socks while it is healing? I work in a warehouse so closed toe shoes are required. Would a tatoo on the top of my foot result in a problem?

it is ABSOLUTELY necessary to not wear socks or shoes for the duration of healing with a foot tattoo. i have both of my feet tattooed. the healing time varies but generally there is a lot of swelling for about 6-7 days and the scabs don't peel until about 12-16 days.
if you wear socks and shoes you will restrict the healing process and you can likely cause an infection and will almost certainly mess up the tattoo, it will look bad when healed.
if your job doesn't allow you to wear flip flops then you need to wait until you take vacation so you can let it heal properly.
if that isn't an option then you should change your tattoo location.

I have tattoos on my feet. The healing varies depending on the person. However, depending on the size...you can put a bandaid over it. The one I have on my left foot I got in the winter and had to keep covered. I just put the bandaid on, then a sock then the shoe =)

Hmmm... I dont have one but I am planning a small design for one of my feet. I would say if its a small design you could put a thin layer of A&D (NOT vaseline or neosporin) and then medical tape a thin layer of gauze for while you work, but make sure as soon as you get home you get that off, and wash it gently with mild soap, and then reapply the A&D.

Talk to your artist about aftercare and that you have to wear shoes for work, he'll be able to give you the best advice as to how you should take care of it.
