Suppose you are driving in a 3 lane highway. Someone from the far left lane and the far right lane both merge into the middle lane at the same time. Does anyone technically have the right of way? Who's fault would the accident be if they got in a wreck?

Actually yes. The car on the left has the right of way as he has the poorest view of the road over his right shoulder.

Since both of them were supposed to signal before merging, and since both of them are supposed to check to make sure it is safe to get there, and since people are merging all the time from all directions, I would say they both would share the blame, unless one of them failed to signal properly.

its called 50/50 in some cases both folks glitched, the traffic report will read 50/50 or another percentage depending on how the officer sees it

but in my state the person in the left merging right will be at fault.

I do not have an answer but good question. I seen so many close calls that happen that way.
