i love to melt butter and add lemon juice and crushed garlic cloves--marinate the chicken in this, then while the chicken is grilling brush it with the lemon-garlic-butter mixture. it tastes sooo awesome! for a little extra kick add crushed red pepper flakes to the mix~yummy!
for a different spin on chicken try using steak seasoning--i like montreal steak seasoning by mccormick, just sprinkle it on along with some extra garlic powder!
another delicious way to use garlic is to roast it. just brush the chicken with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. while it is grilling take an entire head of garlic, cut the stem end off, wrap it in tinfoil and put it on the grill. when the chicken is done, so is the garlic--remove the tinfoil and you should be able to squeeze it like toothpaste. just spread the roasted garlic over the chicken and a slice of crusty bread. it is soooo good!
hope i gave you some good ideas!

You can't go wrong with crushed garlic...lemon and rosemary ...for an great kick.....
if you have a whole chicken..are you going to butterfly it so it lies flat on the grill.....??? If so you can take garlic cloves that you sliced and place them under the chicken's skin....then on top salt and pepper it .....and squeeze fresh lemon juice all over the chicken.....then take some rosemary herb and sprinkle all over it....don't forget to salt and pepper the inside of the chicken too...
.if you can do this the night before or the morning of the day you are going to grill it...
.I also have used plain yogurt....as a marinate base and it was terrific...it seems to help break down the meat tenderizes it....if you decide to use the yogurt then ...just add the other ingredients I mentioned above to it...and let it sit overnight...
make sure you let the coals burn down to white before you start grilling the meat....so it does not burn on the outside before being done inside...
Best wishes..happy grilling

Italian Salad Dressing is probably the easiest to use, but here's a combination I have used as well:
Juice of 2 lemons
1/2 cup soy sauce
5 cloves of garlic, peeled and chopped
1/2 cup white wine
3 sprigs of Rosemary
1 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp fresh ground pepper
