I just bought a new Sony WEGA 50" (720p) projection TV and now I want to have the best audio/video connections possible. Currently, my DVD player does not have an HDMI port so I am using component cables that connect from my DVD player to my TV. I have one question: Currently I have my Cox Digital Cable Reciever connected to my new TV by cable wire (coaxial). Is there any way I can connect my reciever to my TV to optimize video/audio quality, or should I just stick to how it is now...I'm kinda new to this so sorry if this is a dumb question. Thanks!!!

PS: Any other hints/tips would be appreciated!

Can I connect my Cable box to my TV by HDMI...or is that only what you would use to connect the DVD player to the TV?

What you want to do is run your cable box THROUGH your receiver and into your TV. Look for the outputs on your cable box and see what you have. You are looking for either HDMI or most likely component (red/blue/green) outputs on your box.

Then run the component cable from your box into a component input on your TV, then run from the output to your TV. You will also have to do the same with the audio as component only carries video.

feel free to email me if that doesn't make sense. There is no worse quality than running your video from your box direct to your TV with coax.

You can't do better than the coax for the digital audio. If your TV has HDMI input and the cable box has HDMI output, that is what you should use.

well..it depends what connections you have on the cox receiver. the coax output is the lowest quality.. use an alternate connection if you have it...just need to buy the jumper cables to the tv (s-video, vga etc.) buy the cables on line....much cheaper
