Well....it is a big American sedan....most of the young crowd wants the sporty 2 door with the turbo.
Oddly enough, I've said for years the average age of a person driving a BUICK is 65, so there you go!
As far as the Vicky being a slob of a car and Police using it because of quantity over quality....the Vic PI can handle just about anything they put it to. Ever notice what car does the most PIT manuevers on those Cop chase shows, the Vic. Ever notice what car leads a police chase, the Vic. And it isn't because they only have Vics either, it's because it's the car that can handle whatever gets thrown at it. So....old people's car or not, the Crown Vic is a damn good car....period.

If I every downgrade from a Ford truck, I'm getting a Crown Victoria/Grand Marquies/Town Car. They are a large car, but they drive very well for the size. They are quite manuverable, dispite thier size, they have huge power, even the non PI version (which has a new "Interseptor" computer which changes the varaibles of the engine, and when the car is retired, the computer is removed, the original is reinstalled, and the "Interseptor" computer is reflashed and installed on the next one).

I have a friend that just wrote his off after being nailed in the back end of his. He had huge power, and the car was amazingly strong. He wrote it off with nearly 400 000km on the clock.

I work in a garage, and I see many taxi, and the odd civilian and police/RCMP (when cheaper or most cost effective to sublet the job out to another shop rather then repairing it in thier own) Crown Victoria in the shop. They are amazing cars, powerful, handles quite well (even with it being a land yatch), and are a very smooth riding and quite car. I would put this as probably the all time most well built vehicle.

Because of its long, boringish style. Also, the normal Crown Vic's aren't known for lots of power. Although, the Police Interceptors have a more sportier performance with a bigger engine that gives it more hp. So you can say the normal one is kind of an old person car, but the Police Interceptor is like a Mustang GT.

speedster, the police version of the Crown Vic is a super modified version of the original. Generally, just about all cop cars look fairly cool since they have all of the exterior mods. Although, the stock Vic isn't much to look at. It's a full size four door sedan, and you do see a lot of older people driving them. They are not very sporty, but an excellent cruising car.

The engines are the longest lasting and tough as nails and will run forever as long as you change the oil. They don't make them anymore but their are thousands for sale. If you can find a 2012 model with less than 50k you can't go wrong buying it. The Mercury is the sister to the Crown Vic but is a bit flashier.

The crown vic is targeted to the older or more mature customer. About the same as the Lincoln Town Car is.

Older customers purchase them, that is what appeals to them.

The new generation is more into the tuners and the sports cars.

good luck.

I think for two reasons..
One, It's an older car that most adults now a days, their parents where driving them.
Two, It's somewhat big. I mean compared to others It's not In-style with the new version of all cars.

Well since its been 7 years since I asked this question, I've owned about 4 of them and they are great cars, tough as nails, decent performance and can be modded to be fairly quick, so to answer and almost decade old question, these are awesome cars. Its such a shame they don't make them anymore.

its not very sporty. It has VERY poor technology. Its dirt cheap. The german police force use BMWs. This is what America has to use because of the quantity over quality aspect
