Your right to own and posses a firearm was not compromised by your mother's felony charge. She can not posses or own a firearm. Was your mother actually convicted of a felony or just arrested and charged?

If your mother is living in your home and the authorities really wanted to mess with her they could charge her with possessing a firearm as a felon even though the gun is yours. Frankly, such a charge is pretty rare and unless your mom really pissed off the local authorities, I won't worry too much.

If you are living in your mother's home, such a charge would be more likely. You should store the weapon somewhere else.

Although you can own a firearm, if you have it near someone that has a felony conviction there is a problem. It's not just owning a firearm, but having control or access to one.
