I love white kitchens with charcoal or black soapstone counters.
I think it has that farmhouse feel, too. But doesn't necessarily look too old fashioned.
Here is an example:

Try painting your walls a spice color....cumin, paprika, nutmeg or even a latte color. If that is too bold for you, choose one wall as an accent wall and paint it a spice color while doing the rest of your walls a white or off-white. For your white cabinets, sand the edges and use a tinted glaze over top. You can make your own glaze or buy a pre-made glaze (and you really do NOT need a lot!). Paint it on the cabinets and wipe off to achieve the desired look. It gives a depth to the cabinets, hides imperfections and dirt AND is a less costly method than changing all your cabinets! An addition of new hardware will totally transform the look of the cabinets as well!

To me there's nothing like a yellow kitchen!! of course not too bright, but a fairly 'mellow' shade...it'd also go well with the white cupboards, unless you planned on having the doors replaced, or a different color, etc...but yellow is really nice for a kitchen.Get samples of different shades of the color youw ant (hopefully, yellow!!) and put them on the walls, for atr least 2-3 days...so you can see how they look in the different light of the day....also, what direction does the kitchen face? if you email me with that info, I'd be happy to help you further...

You can use a poppy seed red color and keep the mint color cabinets. If you have a window in the kitchen you can get a kelly green curtain. And paint yellow squares and put them on the top corners of the knob side. It will go great with the farm house you live in!!!

Since you spend a lot of time in the kitchen, pick one of your top three favorite colors. Also depends on your appliances, countertops, and floor finish color.
Suggestions - re-paint cupboards and cabinets with soft white or ivory if you prefer a neutral. Or, you could go a bit bolder-
powder pink with dusty rose
peach with salmon
butter with lemon yellow
mint green with jade green
aqua with turquoise
powder blue with deep sky blue
lavender with soft fushia
a] use light color for walls, and darker for cupboards, or
b] light for walls, and bright for knobs
c] use light for walls, and bright for curtain/valence, table cover, etc.

an significant tip to keep in mind is that cool colours like blues, vegetables and purples push the partitions out. heat colours convey the partitions in. If the cabinets are in stable shape, i could flow away them on my own. If no longer, best and paint them a shade of the wall shade you opt for. as an occasion, in case you identify to paint the partitions a green, paint the cabinets a darker comfortable green. this might seem strange, yet you're able to image the room as an entire. you're able to finally end up finding out on a shade for the cabinets which you do unlike in any respect with the aid of itself, yet as an entire room it extremely is going to look fantasatic! that's significant enable the attention to go continuously throuhout a small room. in case you have numerous colours in starking assessment, the attention gets puzzled and end at all of us which will in turn make the room sense smaller. replace cupboard hardware to characteristic activity. you will discover greater innovations and help with shade right here.
