Brown recluse spider bites can range from no reaction, mild head aches, dead flesh at the wound site to DEATH! There was a great article in Field & Stream seveal years ago you could possiblely look up??? You would be wise to follow the past advise and go to see your doctor.

My husband had poison ivy and a spider bite from moving a newpaper box. He still has the scar.

Especially as you are diabetic, you need to see your doctor. Though its use may not be wide spread, some doctors are using maggots to eat the dead flesh. Maggots will only eat the dead flesh but not harm the good. I know that sounds gross, but seems the results are better than with surgical procedures.

If the bite has progressed to the point that the flesh is dead, the doctor will have to remove it. Hopefully it will not require a large area.

Since you are a diabetic, the best thing to do would be to see your doctor. The doctor may do some special debridement of the wound that can't be done at home.

Visit your doctor!!
