I'm trying to understand two things. First of all, how come some people do pushups halfway down to the ground, and others go all the way to their chest. Second, if I do pushups i get very hot after my first few and I just have to stop from all the blood rushing to my head, but I know I can do many more since I am not feeling anything in my arms and I can tell I am capable of doing more, heLP!@!PL!P!LP! thanks

Push-ups halfway down will only hit your triceps or the muscles at the back of your upper arms. When done all the way down then it will also work your chest and shoulders. So it really depends on your goals although I'd suggest that push-ups must be perform all the way down to get that full range of motion that'll stimulate your whole upper body including your triceps. Now as to your concern, I suggest that you stop and rest for a few seconds whenever you feel that rush of blood into your head. Better yet, have your BP checked.

Try not to hold your breathe while doing the pushups, make a conscious effort to breathe.
As far as 1/2 way down, it has to do with form all the way down will give you better build up of the chest pec muscles.

you have to start out slow the half way thing is mostly working the chest muscles, the furthur you go down the more its your shoulders and triceps... but the more you do them the better you ll get at them your body just has to get use to it ..start also with your arms spread more soo you have less travel then bring them in as you get better at them!!!! good luck mate
