A heating pad is probably a good idea, I've always used them when I get ear infections, and it helps alot. As for the pain, it will take a while for the medicine to work. I know how hard it is to see your child in pain and suffering, but the medicine will work. The heating pad should definitely help her sleep better.

I know want you going through and your girl. I have alot of ear infections and my two boys do too. Want I would do. give her some motrin or advil for the pain since it would be stronger then the tylenol. They keep putting the ear drops in. If it doesn't working she might need liquid medicine like the antibiotice which would also help out. The ear drops might not be going to the right place in the ear. But she come into having a fever then you call the doctor right of way because she can have ear infection and the ear drop not working. Give her a stronger kind of pain medicine, Tylenol doesn't seem to help with pain the ears. Because it doesn;t with my boys that I give them motrin or advil and it seem to work.

My daughter use to get ear infections all the time. They would give her antibiotics to take orally (liquid), drops for her ears, and advise Tylenol. I have also used some Sweet Oil. Put some in a dropper and warm it slightly, put a couple of drops in her ears. Then use a cotton ball piece to put in her ear. The I would use a heating pad on low heat on top of a towel to keep from burning her face. If this doesn't work and she continues to have ear infections, you may need to see an ENT doctor. My daughter had to have tubes put in her ears as well as her tonsils out. Her tonsils were so swollen that she wouldn't eat hardly anything. Just remember, it's all linked together in the skull and keep any water out of her ears. Use ear plugs.

I'm not sure if they are okay for kids, but are you able to use the regular drops for swimmer's ear, in addition to the antibiotic drops? They have a high alcohol content that helps to dry out the water & I know they always help me a TON. If you haven't already, you might see if you can use those, too. Good luck~

I feel for you and your daughter. I take it you've taken caution keeping water out the ear at bath/shower time? I'm not sure about the heating pad on the ear- you should call the doctor on duty for that. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Does you daughter have tubes? If not she may need to have tubes put in her ears. My son always had ear ache, ear infections, and full of wax which made him pretty cranky. We talked to this surgeon who does ear tube implants and he's been fine ever since. Only thing with ear tubes your child can't get their ears wet inside at all either during bath or swimming, it could cause infection. After a few years the tubes will just fall out, she wont ever see them or feel them come out.

use motrin instead of tylenol... it's better for the swelling. and an old home remedy that my mom used with success on all of us... believe it or not was to cut an onion in half and place the cut half on her ear and have her lay on it to hold it there for as long as she can stand it... not pleasant but sure worked for all of us!

Go to another doctor. Simple solution. Ask if she can take a half hit of vicodine ( I know it'd take care of my pain :) )
Next, when she goes swimming buy her some ear plugs. Keep the water out. It's too much chlorine.

my grandson had a earache one night and i tried everything i could possibly think of and finally i took the hairdryer and just waved it near {but not too near} his ear and he said, oh thank you nana, he was only 3. breaks your heart doesn't it. but yes heat will help. i wish i'd had a heating pad, but be careful so as not to burn her.

The best advice I can give is to stop asking for medical advice on the internet.
