Dating scene not my thing?

I am a guy who has trouble approaching the ladies and when I am interested in appearance alone, it's worse! I like gothic clubs and I am a dad. Just need help or at least some great advice, that will inspire me to go for it. Every relationship that I have had, I either met through a friends or found at a job place. I could really use some great advice.
