if not very bad case of acne do theusual stuff-buy benzoyl peroxide based creme or gel Use OIL free moisturizers/makeup-also non-comedogenic should be on the label:doesn't clog pores) when not using the drying benzoyl peroxide products after washing Do not scrub too much as that will be irritating to the skin. Forget all other home remedies as they do not work or are neutral and just waste time and money. Eat well take vitamins in recommended amounts if you dont always eat as healthy.
If you need more help than that the only smart way to go is with doctors visit and prescription meds Thats how all the other people who you may know who dont have a lot of acne do it. Antibiotics in small doses are considered safe and effective SOme need stronger cremes like retin A -(not retinoid type aging cremes etc-that you get over the counter but dispensed by prescription only in the pharmacy) These are drying to the skin but eventually it evens out and you get better. The cyst like acnes that is disfiguring requires the bigger guns-ACCUTANE. Needs a doctor's advice/RX and lots of instructions and restrictions due to its abiltiy to cause birth defects if taken while pregnant.
Also you would need to commit to using birth control if of childbearing years whether or not you believe in it or "need it"
best of luck

I really need to save this message because it's the third time I've given it today.
OK. Acne = dirt + oil + bacteria
Control the above, control the acne.
The expensive fix is proactive. This stuff is truly amazing, and after just a day or two using it, my son had cheeks as soft as a baby's back side.
The second fix is swimming. I don't know why, but when my son swims every day, his acne clears up. Pool chemicals or sun? Who knows, but it works.
The third is going to test your openness to new techniques. It's an ancient Chinese remedy.
First, take off everything metal (your energy can't flow with metal interrupting it). Next, take your right palm and place it on your left calf. Then take your left palm and place it on your right calf. Get as comfortable as possible, try to relax. You can watch TV, but it's not as effective. Do this for 1/2hr per day, or if you have more time, do it more. Within a couple of days, you'll see a huge difference. How does it work? Beats me. But I've seen it.
If you have any questions, e-mail me.

I'm in my 40s and my zit scars are still here. Not so bad but still noticable if you knew what they were. They will be less noticable as you gain more wrinkles. Fresh hide over time (months and years) will eventually round the edges and shallow the craters, but the thing I notice most is that I dont think about them any more (after 20) and they disappear (from your mind).
Most people (older) don't care about them, and you shouldn't. At school you will have trouble, but the fresh zits are more of a problem, than the scars they leave.
Best advice though, is try not to let your zits become bully busters that leave craters when they blow. Use very hot water and soap and a wash cloth to keep them rubbed down - even if this is 3 times - after meals and before and after bed.
If you are really bad all the time, consider, antibiotics, from your doc. They are taken over long periods. Forget the fancy makeups like p-active. They are using actors, with makeup to create the zits for the before shots, not remove them.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

Clean you skin with a mild soap like Neutrogena several times per day. Then take a cotton bal, paper towel or tissue, and soak it with Listerine (this is why the pool chemicals work, too - chlorine also kills the bacteria) and dab it on the affected areas. Let them air dry thoroughly. Then if you need to cover up, use a medicated make up in your skin tone such as I like - Bonne Bell medicated or Almay - they may be difficult to find. there is also a spot treatment that comes in a tube from Almay, I believe, that you put on an let dry, and then apply your foundation in small amount over that.
Try not to use the make-up unless necessary. I have fair freckeled skin, so a few dots to cover the redness is all I use. Keep it clean, sanitized and dry. The dryness will help scabs to form and the skin will heal itself under the scabs. Try to keep from picking at them and they will finally fall off and your skin will be clear.

Retin A. Prescription cream or gel. Cost $60 a tube. Apply once a day at bedtime. It prevents acne from forming. Is the only thing that worked for me. Is worth the money. A tube last all month.

Honestly, I would not waste my time with over the counter products and I'd visit a dermatologist, especially if you've already developed scars.
