I don't fast because Scripture does not command Christians to fast. It is not something that God requires or demands of Christians. At the same time, the Bible presents fasting as something that is good, profitable, and expected. The Book of Acts records believers fasting before they made important decisions (Acts 13:4; 14:23). Fasting and prayer are often linked together (Luke 2:37; 5:33). Too often, the focus of fasting is on the lack of food. Instead, the purpose of fasting should be to take your eyes off the things of this world, and instead focus on God. Fasting is a way to demonstrate to God, and to yourself, that you are serious about your relationship with Him. Fasting helps you to gain a new perspective and a renewed reliance upon God.

I can't fast because I am diebetic, but years ago I did. Fasting one day a week is really helpful for a number of reasons, and occasional 3 day fasts for spiritual reasons is good and occasionaly a longer 10 day or more fast will help you both physically and spiritually. However don't go over a three day fast without some indepth information about what actually happens to your physical system during a longer fast.

I have lived on 1,000 calories a day for about four months now.

I started the day I decided to get out of my own way in spiritual maters.
I also quit smoking, online gaming, and started an exercise program all on that same day.

I'm having no trouble with temptation and I still cook for my family and keep a rigorous daily schedule.

So in short... everyday is a fast now.

Blessed Be!

I used to fast 4 or more times per year,
and have done 3 forty-day fasts in my life.
It's healthy, but in the last few years
I've cut back to short ones, say
3 to 5 days because
The last long one I went on
my ankles turned black & blue
until I started eating again.
And it's a bit tough for me
because I only weigh 125
as it is.

I fast only when I am really confounded over something. I haven't gone a whole day without eating in awhile, but sometimes I will not eat until I have prayed and feel the Spirit's peace over a matter

I'm not Christian but I do fast from time to time---it cleanses the body and this seems to make my connecting to Deity easier and more intense. I usually fast for 24 hours and drink only water during this time.

I rarely fast. Why? I don't feel compelled to mostly. It is for rare things I use this type of prayer.

Matt 6:
16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

yes
but I don't tell people when I am doing it.
note:
Fasting to God is not to lose weight or "cleans"yourself physically (you will lose weight).Fasting to God is powerful (if you pray and seek God).

This is something that one should not tell or announce to others. It is something one should do as unto the LORD not for man to notice you.
I will say that it is WELL WORTH the effort!!
