You very likely had a group term certificate, and that insurance likely is no longer in force. If group term is not converted to permanent insurance upon you leaving the company, the coverage is forfeit.

All insurance coverages terminate when you no longer work for the employer. All employers offer term life coverage.
Call an insurance company to set an appointment to talk about a WHOLE LIFE policy. You can cash it out if you need $ down the road.

If you did, it was almost certainly term insurance so wouldn't be worth anything anyway.
