....is there not enough faith or strength to believe in other gods?

If your belief is so strong to cause you to cling to your god on faith alone, then why is it not strong enough to acknowledge the existence of other gods using the same "faith and belief" system that causes your god to exist? Is faith unidirectional?

Stop. Read those last two questions again out loud.

A simple "my god told me so" or " the bible says so" is not an answer.

Seriously people: If your God exists on the basis of your faith, and your faith alone, then why do you not have enough faith to extend to other religions who believe as vehemently in the existence of their god as you do about yours.

If you maintain that your god is the only one that exists and that others do not (or are false), then faith is unidirectional. Can that part of your unidirectional thought that denies other gods be called "the tiny atheist trying to escape"?

Problem Michael: Where did I mention Christianity?

EmmaP: No. There are thousands of gods that people do, or have, worshiped. They are not one and the same.

Fireball: Which one god is that? Jehovah? Vishnu? Aphrodite? Odin? And what if your strength of belief in one of those is "that" strong, why wouldn't you opt for the Christian god?

arcomart: smartest thing I've seen. No two religions can exist and be right at the same time. Question: which one has "validation" and why? Just "who" says so? Since in the eyes of the believers, they all exist (to themselves) and yet all others cannot, that is a form of atheism. Now carry it to the logical conclusion....none of them exist.

There are no other gods to renounce save the "gods" made by man.

Yes faith is unidirectional. It also makes no sense that there is more than one God.
In many ancient or native cultures (greek and the Maori in NZ) you will find many gods but they are always governened by a boss god. So that would make Zues of greek mythology god and the others more like pawns.

The reason I believe in One God is because thats what the Bible says it also says not to worship Idols.

Unilateral faith is Faith to say that believing in One God and only One is biast or bigoted as it is what makes up the Faith.

Also so many people don't realise that atheism isn't denying God exists. Atheism says God exists and so does Lucifer. The only thing is they follow Lucifer instread of God.

Agonostics don't believe in either God or Lucifer.

You ask why is religous faith so weak.... yet it is the strongest faith there is as it has caused wars and famine.

If you have strong faith in what you believe in it would only be logical to assume that you would think that all other religions would be wrong because most of the time two religions can't be right at the same time.

Edit:So having strong belief in one religion would lead to an equally strong disbelief in every other religion.

YOu have a misunderstanding of Christian faith. To you faith means belief without support. Christian faith is not what you believe it is. It is brassed upon support, evidence, both logical and empirical. So to ask the question why we don't believe in other god's only shows you have a misunderstanding of our beliefs. Show me more historical evidence, show me another concept of god that is not illogical due to circular reasoning and i might have faith. I have spent a great many of years in this study and see nothing of the sort. Your idea of faith shows me you have not done the same. Biblical faith is not blind it is factual. I have reason for my faith not faith in my faith.

faith in God isn't necessary. the subsequent time your father claims that God has given him a stable existence, ask him why the two richest human beings in the international are atheists? Your father labored to get the place he's. I assure you if he had purely stayed on his knees, praying to the mythical character, God, he often is the poorest guy in the international. this is without doubt one in each and every of the insidious issues approximately faith. It teaches you that all and sundry issues come from God, so any success you have in existence is by using God’s effect on your existence. notwithstanding, something undesirable that occurs on your existence is your fault, not God’s. Any faith is risky. faith in mythical characters like God could be deadly.

Hmmm good question...challenging one. Being I once did accept other deities into my life and practiced with them consistently for 6 years...I actually have a different viewpoint than most Christians do. See, being I was once polytheistic...I understand why one does worship and accept other gods. Naturally our minds, our bodies, accept this concept. It is natural. Male and female energies exisit on earth; it takes a mother and father to create a child. Makes sense in our minds. So why not impose mindset that on God? Why not split Him up into multiple entities and worship only what we wish to? Not feeling much for worshipping the aspect of God that creates challenges today? Okay, well I will choose the goddess Hestia who is the goddess of all that is nurturing and motherly. She will protect and guide, for she is not the type who tests us most times. She is the one that will be there when daddy yells at us to comfort us. Or...say mommy does yell and scold today, and even hits you...so you run to daddy and this time it is the god Zeus who will protect and defend against the raging waters of the female embodiment.

In our minds, sure it makes sense. But all that makes sense is not always the truth. Truth most times actually is hard to swallow...the hardest pill to swallow of all. And if we want the truth, and we want the whole truth, well we cannot dissect it into its elemental values and take in only what we want. We have to accept the whole pill and live with some of the side effects we will encounter. Some of the pill may make us ill for a period of time, but the overall benefits of the pills will actually help us heal better than if we never take it at all...or take only what we want of it.

See, God is truth. He is the whole pill. The choice is, take the pill or leave the pill alone. There is no dissecting God into elements our flesh can digest for the time being, for in time our spirits and souls will cry out for true healing and wondering where the rest of the pill has been to help it heal. I learned this the hard way. I dissected God for 6 years of my life. I took in only what I wanted to from Him, focusing on deities created by other men and women before me to be my treatments for my ailments. All the while, I kept suffering more and more. I could not understand why. And then it came to me...I needed the 100% complete truth. When I wanted that more than healing itself...is when I accepted God for who He is...and that is when I accepted His Son. That day I was healed, and I am continually healed.

Life is not an easy pill to swallow as well...but if we at least take the pill of truth as it is meant to be taken...it is alot easier to live with.

My POV from my experiences.

I've always thought that everyone worships the same Entity. We just give it different names and attributes that we can relate to.

Edit--How do you know there are thousands of gods? Are they all up there floating around? Logically that doesn't make sense. Are they all up there fighting with each other?
