Or is baptism what we do in obedience to God? Can we be saved by a work we did ourselves?
Romans 6:23, Titus 3:5, and Eph. 2: 8-9

Jesus said, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” Mark 1:15

Bieng baptized is a symbol of obedience to God. its showing everyone that you have a personal relationship with Jesus, Son of God. we cannot be saved by anything we do. we cannot save ourselves. God said "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift from God- not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9. bieng saved means you were savedd by the grace of God, not because of anything you have done or anything you can do.

John 14:6 says "I am the way the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me."

when you are saved, you have a personal relationship with Jesus. to enter heaven God says all you need is to know the Son - Jesus. Jesus was sent from heaven to die for us, as a way into heaven. this is the only way. belief in Jesus, but not only beilieve but ask him into your heart. Repent for the sins you make and are going to make. Jesus is the way into heaven and Him alone. You cannot make it there by yourself but by a personal love relationship with Jesus as friends. he saves, he loves, hes patient, and forgiving.

Yes;, it is one of the requisite Jesus himself had laid for the salvation. Mathew 28:19-20 clearly states "Matthew 28:19-20:
19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
In Mark 16:15-16, believing and baptism is a requisite to be save
15He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
In Acts 2:38 repentance and baptism is needed for the forgiveness of sins
Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins

The scriptures you referenced give you your answer

Baptisim is a public declaration of being a follower of Christ & is symbolic of our old ways being buried with Christ & arising into a new life /new ways made possible by Christs' death & resurecttion and by us believing & following His Way --which I do believe His followers were called The Way at times

You can see this is definately disputed. Some doctrines say YES, some doctrines say NO, some doctrines say it is a good idea to do so, some doctrines say it is a personal choice, but not mandated by the Lord.

When people have asked me, what if you do all the things you were supposed to do then it turns out in the end there really is no God? My answer: Better safe than sorry then.

No, you don't have to be baptized to be saved. Being baptized is just a symbol to show people that you have made a decision to renew your life with God. I personally think people should do it, because actions speak louder than words, so if a non-Christian saw you get baptized, they may feel that having God in thier lives could be awesome. It is not necessary though. All you have to do is accept the Lord, Jesus Christ into your heart and live for Him everyday, and you will be saved. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Acts 16:31"

No, only by faith you are saved: there is no way a sinner can EARN salvation.

Baptism is a physical symbol of a spiritual thing - becoming a christian (Believer's Baptism), or (Infant Baptism) the beginning of being raised by parents that will lead you to Christ.

Baptismal regeneration is the belief that a person must be baptized in order to be saved. It is our contention that baptism is an important step of obedience for a Christian, but we adamantly reject baptism as being required for salvation. We strongly believe that each and every Christian should be water baptized by immersion. Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4 declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” The action of being immersed in the water illustrates being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.

Anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ as being required for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add ANYTHING to the Gospel is to say that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation. To say that we must be baptized in order to be saved is to say that we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death in order to make it sufficient for salvation. Jesus' death alone paid for our sins (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus' payment for our sins is appropriated to our "account" by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, baptism is an important step of obedience after salvation, but cannot be a requirement for salvation.

No, baptism is an outward sign of what has already taken place.

Baptism is a symbol of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and by being baptised we show that we are following the Lord Jesus Christ. Baptism is a simple step of obedience to Him.

Baptisim is the public display of your commitment to Christ...that you born again in Him. Honestly, I do not find it necessary to actually go through with it. One can truly be saved if one only stands before God and says "I repent of all my sins and recieve Christ into my life." I was baptized, but of my own volition. I did not think I was anymore saved than the day I accepted Christ into my life when I was baptized. I just made a public confirmation that I accepted Him...that is all. Is it necessary? Not IMHO. It is a personal decision. All God cares about is if you choose His Son...that's it.
